Teacher Salary & Benefits
A competitive starting salary includes bonuses for returning each September, following your first year at LOCSS. Salary depends on academic background and experience.
Annual Salaries start at $ 50,000. + CAD and will increase to a much higher starting salary up to $65,000. +CAD (depending on experience and background…).
Included in our package for all foreign teachers are the following:
• Fees for Visa and work permit
• Teaching only 6 blocks of our 8 block timetable – Result 2 prep Blocks in every 8 blocks
• Annual return airfare allowance.
• Free furnished brand new and modern 2 bedroom apartment a short one block walk from the school, and free wi-fi and TV, teacher pays only for utilities.
• Free Medical insurance in China. 7 paid leave days for illness, or accident
• Up to 3 approved personal, paid leave days
• LOCSS is in session from the first week of September to end of June.
• There is a 5 week paid vacation to celebrate the Chinese New Year in January/February. An additional travel bonus of $500. CAD is provided to each teacher for travel during the Chinese New Year vacation period.
• Weekend Field trips in September and October are organized for teachers to see the many sights and activities to participate in, in Lanzhou: including recreation (hiking, mountain biking, ...), entertainment, transportation (fast train, .. ), historical, cultural, great food, geographical sights in the countryside and local mountains, downtown activities and bright lights, ... overnight trips may include visiting the Gobi Desert.
• ProD opportunities assist teachers to apply the New BC Curriculum, in our LOCSS classes.
• School owned laptop for use while a teacher at LOCSS.
• Annual salary increase.
