A. Introduction
Runcai Education is recruiting upper secondary school subject teachers for exciting new roles in its new school in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, opening this September with the support of the British Council. These roles present exciting opportunities in a newly established team delivering high quality tuition to pupils following IGCSE and A Level programmes.

C. About the Role
Role: Subject Teacher, International High School
Subjects required: Extra English, ESOL, History, Geography (Multiple skilled teacher preferred if candidate can teach one than more subject)

F. About the School
The School represents the latest international school launch by Runcai Education in its growing chain of international schools for Chinese pupils pursuing an education with an international dimension.
The first school in this chain, Suzhou International Academy (see right) opened 3 years ago and now has 1,300 students with excellent acceptance rates to British and American universities. Both schools are equipped with modern, purpose-built, premises with adjoining sports grounds and boarding facilities.
The British Council is working with the School on the development of the international curriculum and this initial round of recruitment. The new school will open its doors this September as a co-educational day and boarding school. Until Year 10 (which is the equivalent of UK Year 11), the pupils will follow a programme of Chinese national curriculum study enhanced with English language tuition provided by the British Council. From Year 10, upper secondary pupils follow the English national curriculum, assessed through IGCSE and A Level examinations, with school graduates looking to take up university places in the UK and other English speaking tertiary institutions abroad. This is facilitated by a dedicated university counselling service within the school.

G. About Runcai Education (RCE)
RCE is an educational service enterprise focused on international education. It was formed to create schools with an international perspective for Chinese students. RCE and its group operate a successful school in Suzhou (Suzhou International Academy), which opened 3 years ago and now has 1,300 students. The school in Xuzhou will be their second opening. RCE’s range of educational services and products includes K12 operations, educational investment research and the development of domestic and international curricula. H. About Xuzhou
Xuzhou, known as Pengcheng in ancient times, is a major city in the Jiangsu province, China with a population of 9 million. It is the principle city of the Huaihai Economic Zone and 2.5 hours from Xuzhou to Shanghai and 3 hours from Xuzhou to Beijing by high-speed train. The city has a mild climate with distinct seasons. It is is located on plains and low lying hills, lying at the intersections of the Yi, Shu and Huanghe rivers. .
As a designated ‘National Historical and Cultural City’, the city has a rich history. It was the birthplace of Liu Bang, the founder of the Han dynasty, an era considered by many Chinese historians as a Golden Age. Xuzhou has a flourishing economy with several multinational corporations present in the city and a strong reputation for education with several institutions of higher learning.

I. Qualifications, Experience and Skills
 Degree
 Post graduate teaching certificate / PGCE
 A minimum of 2 years teaching experience over the last 5 years in the Secondary phase of a UK, international or bilingual school
 A minimum of 2 years teaching experience teaching A-Level
 A clear and up to date DBS/CRB check
 Three references, including from applicant’s present or most recent Head
 English to the level of, or a level comparable to, first language communicator
 An interest in supporting students in the preparation of university admissions for the UK, the US and other tertiary education destinations

J. Job description
Main Challenges of the role:
 To plan, prepare and teach the school upper secondary curriculum in line with the agreed schemes of work for the relevant ear, up to and including A Levels.
 To monitor and assess pupils’ classwork and homework using school assessment procedures and use assessment to inform planning, continuity and progression in student’s learning.
 To follow and contribute to school policies under the management of the International Head and school leadership team
 To work co-operatively as part of the International School and the wider institution as a whole.

Main Accountabilities of the role:
 To create a stimulating, organized, interactive and informative learning environment that allows the development of all learning styles and which incorporates a range of resources
 To keep a regular record of assessment for every student and write reports in accordance with school policy.
 To carry out supervisory duties in common areas of school.
 To participate in meetings and communications with parents
 Attendance at Family Days, concerts, trips and pastoral meetings for existing pupils and Open Days for prospective students and parents.
 To complete references for students and support them in editing their personal statements for application to universities.
 To actively seek to develop professionally and complete agreed objectives with your Line Manager in accordance with the School PMPD Cycle.
 Attendance at meetings and training sessions considered necessary for professional development and wider school initiatives
 To meet school’s administrative requests for personal and professional documentation (certificates etc.) for visa processing and other statutory requirements in agreed timeframe
 Boarding duties and ensuring pupils adherence to pupils code of conduct and behaviour policies
