Job Description
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Consultant (native English speaker) to join our Government & Public Affairs (GPA) team in Beijing team to support our growing operations.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or higher degree in International Relations, Public Affairs, Public Policy, Law, Economics, Journalism
• 4+ years related experience
• Professional experience in strategic communications, government relations, regulatory affairs and/or public affairs in China
• Solid understanding of Chinese government structure, functions and legislative processes at central, regional and local levels
• Understanding of issues effecting multinational businesses in China
• Strong computer knowledge - microsoft, power point, excel
• Excellent presentation, writing and communication skills, in English – Mandarin is a +
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Ability to generate significant accomplishments with minimal supervision
• Strong ability to partner, develop and maintain positive, professional working relationships both internally and externally
• Positive outgoing attitude, and ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment
• Proven ability to develop and implement strategies and lead a team to implement successful project outcomes

Responsibilities

• Support/lead the GPA team’s thought leadership article writing and political risk assessment offerings.
• Actively contribute to the creation and implementation of long term strategic communications/ government relations strategy for our client portfolio.
• Lead key Industry /client relevant research.
• Based on industry and operational issues, identify and profile key government and quasi-government stakeholders at all levels of Chinese government
• Evaluate and analyze government stakeholder perceptions of relevance to our client portfolio and develop key messages to communicate and influence.
• Identify key channels for engagement and advocacy, including but not limited to direct engagement, third party engagement (key opinion leaders, industry associations, etc), foreign diplomatic missions and business chambers, media and public-private partnership initiatives
• Act as a main contact for our network opportunities
• Identify incremental business opportunities on current accounts and new business opportunities with prospects.
• Research and prepare new business proposals for new and existing clients and participates in presentations. Through networking, identifies potential new business and/or up-sell opportunities.
• Participate as an active member of the business community in activities and initiatives which benefit the position's overall mandate
• Provide input/editing on all English written assignments
• Responsible for the daily supervision of SAEs, AEs, ACs and Interns., working with other team members to ensure that monthly goals are achieved and addressing any problems with supervisor and subordinate.
• Assists H&K management in building top performing teams serving as an effective coach to subordinates.
