As manager of our social media accounts, you will be responsible for creating, curating and sharing content with the objective of increasing readers’ engagement with our publication beyond the domain of our website.

As a creator of content, you will be exercising your outstanding copywriting skills and creativity to produce engaging material suitable for each social media platform and target group. Having identified who we wish to engage with our content (particularly key opinion leaders), you will be using your excellent knowledge of social media tools and best practices to reach and engage with this target audience.

You will use analytical tools to identify which approaches and channels are best suited to the publication, constantly monitoring data and drawing actionable insights from it. Where appropriate, you will make use of paid advertising services and tools, focusing our reach to specific target readership groups.

You will take an active role in identifying and adapting to new changes in the social media world, exploiting new channels and tools as and when they arise. You will also respond rapidly to trends both within and out of China, sensitively adjusting content to harness these movements and increase engagement.

You will be responsible for maintaining interaction with social media users, responding directly and punctually to feedback in a manner that reflects the ethos of our publication.



Candidate requirements


Candidates must have at least one year’s demonstrable experience in social media management or digital marketing; must be particularly well-versed in Facebook and Twitter. Candidates with a background in news media will be given special consideration.

Experience in operating with a budget – managing paid advertising campaigns – is preferred.

While the position does not require proficiency in Mandarin, the ideal candidate will have an existing understanding of and interest in China and should be abreast of Chinese current affairs.

Candidate must have proven ability to employ data analysis tools such as Google Analytics to inform their marketing model, yet must be equally able to use creative and lateral thinking to increase engagement. Candidates with graphic design experience and the demonstrable ability to produce creative content quickly will be given special consideration.

The position is open only to native-speakers of English.

Competitive salary, open to negotiation. Immediate start. Candidate must be currently based in China.
