Position

Probst Electric is now hiring for Construction Laborers in the Augusta and Bangor, Maine area. May clean and prepare sites, assist road crews, and other tasks as directed. May assist line workers and other trade workers with the repair and maintenance of equipment, in addition to other duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials.
• Assist road crews in the operation of their duties
• Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
• Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
• Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed.
• Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes.
• Adhere to safety practices and procedures, such as checking equipment regularly and erecting barriers around work areas.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Preference given to those with valid CDL and Medical Card
• Preference given to those with previous heavy equipment operator experience
• Preference given to those with previous power line experience or graduation from a line school
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work long hours outdoors in all types of weather, and move/lift at least 50 lbs. on a consistent basis
• Pass pre-employment and other drug screening requirements
