SUMMARY

The Manager, Facilities is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, cleaning and security of the buildings, parking, and ground. The Manager, Facilities follows best practices to provide a suitable working environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the building and launch of new MFE facility
  • Assists in the preparation of operating and capital budgets
  • Work closely with TriVista to order and install manufacturing equipment
  • Provides leadership and set standards for performance for the maintenance
  • organization; periodically review reports on department performance, quality, cost and key business indicators
  • Develop and implement improvement plans when needed
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly
  • Maintain the MFE Jiujiang buildings and grounds, directing staff, overseeing the upkeep of equipment, utilities and supplies
  • Direct the maintenance of all building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management
  • Support the team in identifying, implementing and supporting an effective Total Preventative Maintenance system to support the business needs
  • Oversight of facility and equipment spare parts procurement and storage, ensuring availability of critical components to facilitate the daily operations and avoid unnecessary down time
  • Manage and train a staff of employees in the general maintenance of buildings, grounds, infrastructures, equipment
  • Ensure facilities maintenance work follows province and national safety standards, conforming to all specifications, and work orders are tracked and completed within the budgeted guidelines
  • Oversee contractors engaged for facility renovation projects
  • Negotiate with outside vendors for supplies, repairs and other measures
  • Oversee groundskeepers, maintenance workers, and custodial staff
  • Collaborates with peers to support and deliver improvements to the business supporting a continuous improvement culture within the site

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5 + years prior facilities management experience
  • 10+ years of manufacturing operations experience. Ideally 5 years’ experience with world class manufactures such as Toyota, Danaher, etc. and ideally worked successfully at smaller organizations
  • 5+ years of successful leadership experience building strong cross-functional teams
  • Experience with Injection Molding, Sewing, Painting, Metal working and assembly operations
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • Previous experience with maintenance and exposure to departments: Inventory Control - Security - Quality - Shipping / Receiving - Production - Human Resources - IT

EDUCATION & SKILLS

  • Technical Engineering degree
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing principles with the ability to show concrete ROI through operational efficiencies and waste reductions
  • Adaptability – be able to adapt to varying time constraints, resource levels and organizational situations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate cross-functional dialog at every level of the organization
  • Must possess excellent communication skills in written and spoken Mandarin and ideally functional English
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to review information and make decisions based on needs and budget concerns
  • Attention to Detail: Assure cleaning, upkeep and safety standards are maintained daily
