In this role, you have the opportunity to

• Working in collaboration with other regional and global IP colleagues, you will be acting as the subject matter expert for all trademark and copyright matters for Philips China.
• Help formulate and execute filing and enforcement strategies of design patents in China.

You will

• Serving as the trademark and copyright subject matter expert for Philips China; being able to advise IP&S colleagues and internal clients on trademark and copyright issues in accordance to Chinese laws and practices.
• Assisting with management of trademark and copyright portfolios, including coordination and involvement in trademark oppositions and nullity actions, review watch notices, and handle trademark office actions.
• Conducting trademark clearance.
• Structure, draft, and negotiate agreements that contain trademark and copyright issues, including those relating to marketing and advertising, events, social media, sponsorships, and brand licensing.
• Working in collaboration with the Philips brand protection team and outside agents to develop and execute strategies to enforce Philips IP rights against infringers, including online takedowns and offline civil and criminal actions.
• Assisting in the development and execution of filing strategies for design patents in China, with the goal of providing optimal protection and generating maximum long term value to Philips.

Working in collaboration with global IP&S and business colleagues to enforce Philips design rights against infringers.

You are a part of

o An international community of experienced and highly trained IP professionals with a wide-ranging of technical expertise.

o You are acting as a strategic advisor in IP matters to Philips’ businesses and research organization.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

• Admission to practice law in China is required;
• 5 to 10 years of experience in trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement;
• Have experience in drafting and negotiating complex agreements;
• Excellent command of written and spoken English;
• Detail oriented, able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and work well in a fast moving environment;
• Strong business sense and ability to exercise sound commercial as well as legal judgment.
• A team player who can learn quickly and has the ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.
