DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The General Manager Braking will have full P&L responsibility for the braking business in Asia Pacific with China as a major focus, covering manufacturing operations, supply chain (purchasing and logistics), product and manufacturing engineering, and quality, as well as OE sales. Currently the Asia Pacific Braking has 3 manufacturing facilities (Wuhan, Chongqing, and Penang) in the region, with total sales revenue around $100 million, mostly to OEs. Initially the position will focus on the braking, but might expand into other 2 global product lines in the future. The position will report to the General Manager of Global Braking and also work closely with President Asia Pacific on regional matters and product issues that affect the aftermarket.
The role will provide executive level contribution to the overall business strategy of Braking to achieve the business goals, priorities and financial commitments in Asia Pacific. The role will also provide leadership to entire operations and all functions of Braking in the region to meet business target and key performance indicators.

Specific responsibilities are:

  • Develop and implement the strategy of the operations and other functions of Braking represented in the region. Has regional P&L responsibility.

  • Provides direction and leadership in the development and communication of regional goals & policies; delegates authority to ensure that corporate values, and culture support the Braking’s long-term business goals and effective utilization of human resources.

  • Provides leadership and set standards for performance in all areas of the regional organization; periodically review reports on department performance and key business indicators.

  • Directs and participates in the business planning process for future development and growth of the business; periodically presents such plans for general review and approval.

  • Participates in the development of business opportunities and operational strategies to maximize growth and profitability, expand market penetration and accomplish missions’ set. Prepare and present operating and capital expenditure budgets to the upper management for approval.

  • Continually seek improved methods with a view to reduce costs, optimize service level and reduce operational risk.

  • Represents the company as appropriate in its relationships with major customers, suppliers, competitors, government agencies, etc.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • An undergraduate degree is required, ideally in Industrial Engineering or similar technical discipline. An MBA or similar advanced degree is advantageous.Experience Required.

  • PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Track record in managing a P&L in automotive industry. Experience in managing business of multisite operations and a track record of growing OE sales.

  • Demonstrated good leadership and general management skills with functional strength in manufacturing operations and supply and a record of delivering growth.

  • Results oriented and drive for the excellence. Leading change and championing the need and business case for change.

  • Decisive and has the effective decision making skills. Possess excellent skill in problem-solving and crisis management; not afraid to make negative decisions and take tough action

  • Good understanding and implementation of Quality Systems including Environmental standards.

  • Possess strong customer and commercial skills. Has well-established network in the automotive industry in China. Has prior experience in winning business from international and local automotive customers.

  • Matured, pro-active and dynamic individual equipped with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to align regional growth strategies with global senior management team.

  • A team player with strong leadership capability, analytical ability, planning and organizing skills. Good people management skill in developing a positive working environment where employees are motivated with team spirit.

  • Be able to adapt to varying time constraints, resource levels and organizational situations.

  • High degree of credibility, professional competency and personal integrity.
