Micron’s Taiwan sites include sales and technical support in Taipei along with state-of-the-art fabrication facilities in Taichung and Taoyuan that together comprise the company’s DRAM Center of Perfection. The Center’s goal is to achieve the most efficient and effective technology transfer and manufacturing ramp by combining front- and back-end manufacturing, product engineering and technology development roles.


As a Director of Package Reliability and Qual Operations on the Global Quality (GQ) team at Micron Technology Inc., you will be responsible for ensuring that Micron’s package development and qualification processes deliver products with best-in-class quality and reliability. You will manage an industry-leading, highly technical, engineering team to define quality and reliability requirements, resolve package technology/engineering issues, and establish standards for introduction of new packages and package technologies. You will also manage package characterization labs in support of package qualification. You and/or your team are expected to participate in industry working groups (or councils) and generate industry publications with the goal of influencing changes that will benefit Micron and our customers. You will be responsible for measuring and improving compliance to standards/requirements, as well as proactively influencing industry councils (JEDEC, AEC, etc.) to meet changing needs. You and your team will also participate in the 8D process to resolve issues related to package quality or reliability.


Responsibilities and Tasks

Manage Team Member Performance

Develop a high performing team

  • Establish functional area objectives aligned to department and corporate strategic objectives and align IPP goals
  • Establish job responsibilities and performance and development goals for direct reports
  • Provide performance feedback on an on-going basis and conduct performance appraisal for direct reports
  • Collect, review, and provide verbal and written performance feedback to continuously develop your functional area
  • Monitor and manage functional area performance achievement
  • Coach, mentor and develop direct reports and future leaders
  • Manage and ensure conflict resolution
  • Provide and support recognition

Build an Effective Team

  • Establish functional area objectives, align roles and responsibilities and communicate line of sight to department and company strategic objectives
  • Remove barriers and drive for accountability
  • Optimize functional area performance and structure
  • Assess talent and develop talent management strategies to execute objectives
  • Evaluate and support learning opportunities in your functional area and plan development opportunities with direct reports
  • Empower team members and promote teamwork
  • Ensure partnerships across functional areas and customer groups

Manage Functional Area Service Delivery

  • Develop and implement functional area objectives and strategies
  • Oversee work execution and problem solving
  • Manage the troubleshooting of escalated issues and drive resolution
  • Coordinate and communicate departmental policy and procedures
  • Manage adherence to departmental policy and procedures and provide feedback
  • Ensure team members are properly trained according to department compliance and work requirements
  • Manage internal budgets
  • Identify and implement system and process improvements
  • Develop, communicate, and manage functional area performance metrics
  • Manage, engage in, and promote continuous cost reduction and quality improvement efforts

Provide Organizational Leadership to Build Functional Strategies, Processes, and Policy

  • Create and execute strategies according to requirements (e.g. stakeholder, regulatory, corporate, departmental)
  • Monitor functional area performance to plan
  • Utilize domain knowledge to influence subject matter expertise
  • Participate in or lead cross-functional teams and projects
  • Mentor direct reports and future leaders
  • Collaborate with peers to construct global solutions
  • Manage conflict, identify and utilize escalation paths
  • Align internal strategies and communicate line of sight to corporate strategic objectives
  • Support corporate business initiatives, communicate and provide direction

Collaborate with Stakeholders to Deliver Strategic Solutions

  • Identify and understand functional area service requirements
  • Establish and communicate functional area capabilities to ensure stakeholder expectations are aligned
  • Develop and measure functional metrics to ensure deliverables are met
  • Provide functional area expertise to customers and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate functional services with peer group and internal global partners
  • Manage conflict and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Initiate and sustain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders

Ensure a Safe, Compliant, and Ethical Work Environment

  • Maintain knowledge of and apply company safety, labor, and ethics policies
  • Communicate requirements to leaders, team members and external stakeholders
  • Ensure execution of mandatory training for direct reports and oversee mandatory training for functional area team members
  • Identify and resolve and / or report potential safety, security, and labor issues


Education

Required

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Engineering or related field of study

Experience

Desired

Minimum of 10 years of experience in any of the following:

  • Packaging Technology, Assembly Engineering, Product Quality and Reliability Engineering, and/or Failure Analysis
  • Related Field

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and empower team members to deliver results.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor component assembly and surface mount processes.
  • Good understanding of the effects thermomechanical, thermal, mechanical and hygroscopic swelling stresses on package reliability.
  • A working knowledge of industry standard reliability test methods, acceleration models used for life predictions, and sampling statistics preferred.
  • Experience with FMEA.
  • Experience with 8D problem solving methodologies.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills, excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to interact easily with other groups and customers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are computer skills are necessary.
