Job Description
Summary

The BD Manager is responsible to gain the targeted share of wallet by driving innovation (entry in pre-concept and development phase), OEM product approval / penetration and initiating new product development as well as designing and successfully implementing the marketing strategy for a defined OEM group (OEM plan).

Key Responsibility

Develop market fact base

  • Drive and lead ongoing collection of market intelligence to ensure understanding of competitive position/development in addition to value marketing opportunities

  • Build value chain network to strengthen Borouge image at key decision makers, to influence specifications and to identify new opportunities

  • Leading acquisition of new project opportunities by a thorough understanding of the value chain and Borouge' competitive position

  • Proactively and timely initiate development of differentiated products or product improvements based upon defined customer and market needs, in close co-operation with AMM and product development function

Design proposition (4Ps)

  • Define optimal product mix and implement changes

  • Use innovation process to prioritise, select and develop new opportunities

  • Accountable for OEM specific application innovation projects (concept phase/feasibility studies)

  • Secure long term business value through joint OEM project contracts, develop specifications (standardisation bodies) and support IPR issues

  • Takes the lead in all operational and strategic activities in order to maximise efficiency of global OEM Management

Set targets and identify actions

  • Take leadership role in successful roll-out and implementation of the OEM specific marketing strategy, measures progress and if needed take corrective actions

  • Drive launch of new products/solutions in the OEM market and gain relevant approvals

  • Recommend application sales targets (volume and delta prices), aligned with the AMM

  • Together with sales develop action plans for specific Tiers to successfully implement the marketing strategy

People

  • Lead the OEM Team consisting out of of Application Development Engineers and

  • Related project leaders.

  • Co-ordinate and support R&D during the different stages of an innovation project with regard to market/customer fit and alignment (in alignment with MM)

  • Takes care of continuous team development by training, etc

Customer

  • Accountable for OEM project portfolio and drive for successful implementation

  • Member of the Key Customer Teams, in order to synchronise OEM requirements and trends with strategic Tier development

  • Seeks to exceed to OEMs’ expectations and makes unusual efforts to meet OEM needs and resolves complex problems and complaints at the OEM

  • Is responsible for an aligned 4P approach on a global level

  • Seeks to add value to OEM relationship, finding out about the underlying needs and matching them to suitable products/services

Interfaces

  • Member of the Key Customer Teams, in order to synchronise OEM requirements and trends with strategic Tier development

  • GSM to align Tier policy.

  • AMM to implement overall OEM innovation portfolio and new product launches

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification

  • Academic: business, marketing and / or technical degree.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • Mastery of the English language at business level - both spoken and written

  • Local language skills of the respective OEM

  • 10+ years relevant working experience on sales, technical service, product development and market development in automotive industry

  • Understand of EV (electric Vehicle) market and its value chain would be a plus

  • Thorough understanding of the structure of the market and the factors that influence demand, profitability and innovations

  • Detailed technical and commercial understanding of products and their applications

  • Thorough strategic understanding of customers and other value chain members needs and the ability to match this with Borealis technical capabilities

  • Good knowledge of marketing and sales management techniques

  • Excellent customer relationship skills

  • Good presentation and project management skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools

  • Effective interpersonal relationship skills

  • Effective coaching and feedback skills
