Job Description

Public Affairs Specialist

As Public Affairs Specialist, you will be responsible for all government-related affairs in Fujian/Xiamen, with includes but not limited to the establishment and maintenance of relationships with various local government organizations, chambers and associations, non-governmental entities, etc. for better involvement of local policies and regulations, projects and events which are of interest of the Company.

Tasks

Your Tasks as a Public Affairs Specialist will include the following:

  • Research and analyze ABB-related government policies issued by Fujian and Xiamen governments, and provide relevant information/advice to internal ABB stakeholders on those policies, programs and regulations with potential impact on the company.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with various government organizations in Fujian and Xiamen, local chambers and associations, etc.

  • Help arrange/coordinate the Company’s high-level meetings, visits and events with Fujian and/or Xiamen governments, and prepare related documents both required by the governments and the Company internally, including but not limited to Fujian/Xiamen economic KPIs, government organization charts and personnel information, local development strategies, ABB’s presence and performance in Fujian/Xiamen, etc.

  • Contact local governments for early involvements in their regulations and legislation that are of interest to the Company.

  • Coordinating government affairs across all ABB companies in Xiamen, for supporting ABB companies in Xiamen on enjoying the government policies.

  • Help develop a greater awareness of government relations’ contribution to the profit line of the Company.

  • Promote ABB brand, products and service to the stakeholders in all levels of the governments, chambers, associations and non-governmental entities to enlarge the Company’s influence in those organizations.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor degree in related functions is required coupled with a minimum of 5+ year’s government affairs experience in multinational companies.
  • A sound foundation in business and understanding of how corporations operate.
  • A comprehensive and sound knowledge of macroeconomic issues and government policies.
  • Experience in power, industrial automation, energy and technology, etc.
  • Relevant relationships with government officials of local governments preferred.
  • Energetic, committed and results-oriented. A self-starter with a very strong work ethic.
  • Senior leadership experience and also a good team player,
  • Ability to meet deadlines, and able to work under pressure and with competing demands.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in both Chinese and English.
  • Good skills in Microsoft Office, esp. in Word and PowerPoints.
  • Excellent reputation for integrity.
