Job Description Summary

A brand new opportunity has arisen to join our growing Information Systems (IS) team at our beautiful, new facility located in Shanghai, China. STEMCELL is searching for a proven individual to lead day-to-day IT operations for offices in the Asia Pacific region. Responsibilities will vary from hands-on support, to working with global colleagues to maintain and operate reliable apps and services, and engaging with local business teams to understand and advocate-for the direct needs of the region. This is a diverse role that is well suited for an individual with strong general technical knowledge, great interpersonal and communication skills, and proactive and analytical attitude. This role will appeal to those who enjoy a broad variety of tasks, and have a desire to develop skills towards the management stream in the future. This role reports to the Manager of IS (based in Canada), and is additionally accountable to the General Managers for China & Singapore/Australia. This position is based in our office in Shanghai, China, and includes quarterly travel to other offices within the region.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct technical support of our staff within the Shanghai office, and throughout the region. Take ownership of support requests from report to resolution.

• Act as the key IT point-of-contact within the Asia Pacific region to triage, escalate and resolve IT service issues. Work with your global colleagues from other teams to identify and resolve the root causes of recurring issues.

• Engage and advocate-for the needs of business units within the Asia Pacific region. Work with other technical teams to ensure STEMCELL’s apps and IT services meet the needs of our staff.

• Partner with business and technical teams within STEMCELL to deliver successful projects, including the rollout of new applications, building expansions & staff moves.

• Build and manage relationships with local suppliers and service providers.

• As a regional leader within the IT Services team, collaborate with your colleagues in North America & Europe ensure that IT services are reliable, responsive and secure for all global staff. This includes shared accountability for key service levels.

• As a member of the global IT Services team, this role is expected to proactively administer and operate some of STEMCELL’s enterprise-wide applications and systems such as Active Directory, productivity & communications tools. This includes monitoring system status and taking proactive action to minimize potential outages.

• Contribute to the development, documentation, and maintenance of global IT standards and practices.

• Drive operational excellence! Participate in our culture of continuous improvement to identify and lead improvements to systems & processes.

• As a member of the global IS services team, you may need to respond to emergencies and system failures including after-hours problems.

• Assist with life cycle management and goal planning.

• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an IT operations or support-lead role including demonstrated experience leading resolution of complex problems.

• Well-rounded knowledge and capabilities of delivering across a wide-breadth of technology environments, and taking a hands-on delivery approach.

• Ability to effectively influence, negotiate, and communicate with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors to get things done.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with experience building strong relationships at all levels. The role will support and collaborate with staff around the globe, so strong communication skills are essential.

• Degree or diploma in a technology related discipline, or a mix of industry certifications and experience.

• Excellent organization skills, including self-management of priorities and deadlines.

• Thrive in a high paced environment with multiple competing priorities.

• Show a keen interest to learn about new or emerging technologies.

• Ability to work & travel within China.

• Fluent in English, Mandarin.

Nice to have qualifications or experience:

• Experience supporting business applications such as Salesforce, SAP S4/HANA or Google GSuite.

• Familiarity or experience with AWS.

• Experience in applications or systems engineering/operations roles.

• Ability to travel and work outside of China, in support other offices within the area of responsibility.
