Objective of the Position
To manage the full portfolio of activities related to the VPC (Vehicle Preparation Center) Quality Management in all three VPC’s in China (Tianjin, Shanghai, Xinsha) which import CBU–vehicles. The current setup are based on a central team in Central Office at BMBS in Beijing and three local VPC QM Teams in the VPC’s. These VPC-QM-Teams work closely together with the onsite and local teams from BMBS-Vehicle-Logistics and the local Service Suppliers in the VPC’s

• Support and the coordination to solve all technical issues in the VPC’s, the communication with the German HQ and all relevant Plants for instant problem findings and technical support as well as improve strategically the VPC PDI Quality Management scope
• Manage the vehicle import together with the local Chinese Vehicle Logistic Team to support all the time the Sales-Targets of the BMBS

- Cooperation with all VPC’s worldwide, especially with the Asian VPC’s. Continuous improvement of the quality standards and VPC-operations, here mainly PDI- (Pre Delivery Inspection) and Rework-Processes as well as the implementation and monitoring of Plant Measures in the VPC’s in accordance with the relevant guidelines. Management of these operations, creating reports and aligning with Daimler HQ QM and Central Campaign Management

• Evaluate the monitoring reports of the Quality Gate in the PDI to implement countermeasures and quality improvement measures for the vendors as well as to improve the lead time at the most efficient way. Communicate with all involved BU’s (Business Units intern + extern) for all VPC QM related matters, monitor and ensure the highest quality before the vehicles get delivered to the dealers

Task Designation
1. Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) Quality Management

• Implement and monitor the most updated vehicles Pre-Inspection check according to the standard MB Pre-Inspection report and their quality in the VPC
• Monitor the technical check up to 5% of the PDI vehicles at the Q-Gate in the VPC and prepare the report accordingly

2. Plant Measure Management

• Coordinate and prepare the Plant Measures related tasks within the QM team in close correspondence with the relevant plants, DAG HQ and cross functional departments. Control the implementation and monitor the processing of Plant Measures at the Chinese VPCs

3. Technical Support and Product Analysis

• Coordinate in the QM-team and with DAG for the most sufficient technical support and ensure the efficient technical solution for the VPC in order to get the most efficient lead time for the PDI vehicles
• Analyze product problems, check and evaluate technical reports from the QM-teams

Managers and present them to the Management and cooperation with DAG for an improvement in the situation

4. Monitor Guidelines

• Supervise the implementation and monitoring of an internal and regular reporting process / data recording / evaluation system and suggest/implement the countermeasures and guidelines with the BU’s. Evaluation and updating of guidelines depending on DAG and BU request

5. Information

• Support and ensure, that the QM teams, the VPC and BMBS VL have access to the up to date technical lectures/information to ensure an up to date technical knowledge base in the QM-team and the VPC for technical repair and problem solving methods

6. Relationship

• Cultivate good relations and contacts to the counterparts at VPC, BMBS Vehicle Logistics, DAG plants and other business related departments

7. Personnel Development/Leadership

• Management of assigned personnel through information, coordination and communication. Allocation and delegation of tasks and responsibilities. Provide regular performance feedback. Define and agree on qualification and development measures. Initiate and maintain a team oriented working environment

Qualification Required
Skills – general skills, personality traits

• Excellent communication and moderation in English and German (Must-Requirement), preferably also Chinese, problem analytical and problem solving skills with the highest possible Technical/Quality managerial abilities

Functionality, technical and process skills

• Needs to be very good technical, analytical and quality driven skills
• Experience and education
• University qualified and/or Master degree in the Automotive field with at least 8 years’ experience with high exposure to management level, to speak English and German fluent is necessary, the ability to speak Mandarin would be ideal

Management and leadership skills

• Needs to have strong management and leadership skills and/or potential, a proven strong technical leadership and also to lead cross-functional and multicultural teams as well as a good analytical and problem solving skills which are essential
