Art Market Journal (or 艺术市场通讯 in Chinese) is a media agency based in Shanghai supported by Arts & Collections Foundation in Hong Kong, dedicated to deliver the most intimate and in-depth art market trends, resources and opinions to audience. Our website and publications feature a mixture of reportage, academic study, criticism and reviews since 2013.

What will you get from this job

The Art Market Journal needs someone with proven skills to liaison with our Chinese editorial team which is setting off to expand its international content and branding. You will play a vital role in building our influence among English audience. You will have the chance to visit established galleries, museums, art fairs and participate in art market forums and conferences.

Responsibilities

• You will primarily be responsible for discovering, developing, and producing art journalism articles in English;
• You will also be responsible for the grammar-checking and proof-reading of article translated from Chinese to English;
• Conduct interviews with auction agencies, museums, galleries, art institutes, etc;
• Assist in our international public communication and online marketing.

What qualities are we looking for

• English proficiency and assertiveness (basic Chinese speaking ability preferred);
• Advanced English writing and interviewing skills are required;
• Strong interest in and profound understanding of art journalism is essential, while Art / Media / Communication / Journalism degree is a plus;
• Initiative and resourcefulness matter more than prior experience;
• Keen eye for detail, fact-checking and cross-referencing to ensure accuracy of information;
• Perfect time management ability to meet deadlines
