Trade Management Lead (APAC)

2019 sees the start an exciting challenge for the new Global Logistics Function. We are bringing together all our logistics and distribution activities under a single global organisation. This consolidation of expertise will create clear and single accountability for product movements around the world, working to the highest global standards.

We are establishing a world leading Logistics Centre of Excellence to steer our organisation through changing environmental demands. Our new Global Logistics Function manages the way our products move around the world and will become a key part of the performance of our end to end supply chain.

As part of this new strategy we will be investing in our capability as an organisation, significantly raising the bar and we will have an extensive training and development programme for all our logistics staff.

As APAC Trade Management Lead, you will have deep expertise of import and export requirements for healthcare products internationally, to ensure the compliant and efficient movement of API, Bulk & Finished Goods across borders; however, your particular expertise will be the APAC market borders.

You will provide specialist support to supply sites both regionally and globally when designing international supply chains and trade routes, determining and negotiating trade (Inco) terms, broker arrangements, services and other trade related terms with local, regional and global suppliers.

Key accountabilities:

In the role, you will be the APAC Regional Process Owner for import/export. You will provide expertise on tariff and custom laws, rules and regulations for the clearance of imported or exported goods of merchandise from customs authorities, the preparation of import or export documents and payment of duties, taxes and other charges accruing in the assigned region. Providing subject matter expertise to sites on all related import/export matters.

You will develop, implement and maintain AstraZeneca regional Import /Export standards and procedures, providing expert assistance to logistics and site teams globally for all APAC markets.

Defining and controlling market master files for trade flows originating in the APAC region, you will have the expertise to evaluate and manage changing trade requirements. You will also undertake periodic audits to ensure process standardisation and compliance.

You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with government agencies and representing AstraZeneca before any government agency regarding classification or valuation of imported or exported goods. You will also monitor regulations for any potential changes and provide AstraZeneca insight, input and interpretation of any changes within the Global Logistics functions and Supply Chains as appropriate.

You will work with Functions across Astra Zeneca to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, and work with regional and global colleagues to advise on opportunities to optimise trade flows, ensuring friction-free movement of goods and optimal supply costs, considering trade terms, trade-free zones (duties, tariffs, customs procedures, quotas etc) and direct/indirect tax consequences.

You will also prepare and submit trade programme annual reports and provide any required SME input to logistics projects or projects that require trade expertise.

You will be a member of the APAC Logistics Leadership Team and as such play a key role in shaping the strategy for the region, as well as shaping the future design of our global logistics network.

Essential Requirements:

o Minimum 7years experience in international trade compliance. Background in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Logistics, or Compliance in Pharmaceutical or related industry preferred.

o Extensive experience working with customs, brokers, freight forwarders and drug inspection agent in APAC region.

o Detailed knowledge of various government agencies regulating global trade and regional regulations, including trading docs, tariff classification, customs valuation, country of origin, and special trade programs.

o Knowledge of the Pharmaceutical production supply chain principles, Good Manufacturing Practice, Food & Drug Administration requirements (or equivalent), Customs rules and regulations.

o Ability to integrate information technology as it support / impacts business processes related to international trade

o Ability to forge and manage strong relationships with outside service providers related to international trade compliance

o Strong, proven capabilities in stakeholder management & organisational communication, and the ability influence at senior management levels
