Role Summary:
The Acoustic Engineer for Ultrasound Probes is responsible for the research and technical execution of product developments (ultrasound transducers for medical applications). Individual will identify and retire all technical risks during the development phase and will ensure performance meet user requirements and will work closely with engineering, manufacturing and service teams in a global environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
Duties include (but are not limited to):

1. Translate user requirements into a multi-physics design plan.
2. Develop new acoustic models to simulate the performance of the ultrasound transducers and the new acoustic materials.
3. Identify, evaluate and develop new concepts for the new product development
4. Participate and contribute in development of the transducer technology roadmap and product roadmap
5. Define structure and components of transducers to meet required product performance
6. Work in close collaboration with design engineer and process engineer for design of tooling, fabrication process, test equipment towards manufacturing readiness.
7. Establish the test platform together with test engineer and implement acoustic testing
8. Use the expertise in acoustics, physics and technology of signal processing to support NPI, ATD, and VCP project
9. Analyze performance deviation and solve problems for mass production products

Quality Specific Goals:
1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
4. Ensure compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Outputs/Program Deliverables
5. Lead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications/Requirements:
1. Master’s degree or PhD in Physics (acoustics, optic, material), electrical engineering (signal processing), biomedical engineering
2. At least 7 years’ experience for Master and 5 years’ experience for PhD in the design of ultrasound transducers with strong troubleshooting experience on transducers
3. Strong understanding in Physics with a broad spectrum of knowledge (Acoustics, Optics, Signal Processing, Electronics, Physical Chemistry, Materials)
4. Knowledge of probe manufacturing, processing and testing is a plus
5. Familiar with acoustic material or similar like piezoelectric ceramic, single crystal etc.
6. Experience with FEM modeling (ANSYS, PZFlex, COMSOL Multiphysics…)
7. Excellent on MATLAB, MATHCAD
8. Knowledge on medical ultrasound applications is a plus
9. Proficiency in English communicate with cross-functional team members
