Job Description
Since opening in
2003, PPD’s offices in China now include 20 different departments. The combined
Beijing and Shanghai offices are now seven times the size they were two years
ago and are continuing to grow. This is an excellent time to join PPD to help
further grow our client base within China and the Asia Pacific region as an
Account Director for Biotech clients.

This pivotal
role will secure and retain new business for PPD through professional, consultative,
proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers
at existing and new clinical sponsors. This role will liaise between sponsor
and company on all business development activities and requirements.

PPD is looking for a proactive, strategically thinking Business Development
Director, with a proven track record of successfully securing new business
within the clinical industry. You will be able to work within our global
Business Development department, and execute our strategy locally within China.

The Director will use market intelligence and personal relationships to target
those companies best aligned to engage with PPD and will have the ability to
build bespoke strategies to develop and foster these relationships at all
stages of the business cycle.

You will obtain firm project/task commitments that will meet or exceed
authorization targets that will be established annually by the corporation.

Requirements Include

Bachelor’s degree in science or business, or equivalent combination of
education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and
abilities to perform the job.
At least 5 years direct sales or marketing experience in a CRO,
Pharmaceutical, Med Device, Biotech or related Life Sciences environment
A proven track record securing business through mid and high-level
business contacts
The ability to identify and develop sales leads, professionally
present capabilities, manage the sales process through to close and handle
all aspects of contract negotiations
The ability to build relationships and fully integrate with internal
functions such as Operations, Finance, Bids & Contracts, and Medical
and follow-up to expand relationships and business opportunities.
The ability to facilitate and lead proposal/budget defense meetings.
Typically in a face-to-face setting, organizing and leading a
cross-functional, global team in competitive and strategic bidding
opportunities
Ideally will have an established network of contacts within the
Biotech industries, including knowledge/understanding of VC and other
funding sources for this client segment
Excellent spoken and written English, and Mandarin. Other languages
(eg Japanese, Korean) a plus
Significant travel required
for regular client engagement, particularly in Shanghai region (ie Hangzhou,
Suzhou, etc). Some international travel
also required for regional and global sales meetings
