Job Title: English Teacher

Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and qualified English Teacher to deliver engaging and comprehensive English language and literature education across primary and secondary levels. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop proficiency in English, cultivate a love for literature, and enhance their analytical and communicative skills. This role requires adaptability to teach within different school curricula while maintaining high standards of academic excellence and fostering a lifelong appreciation for the English language.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons in English Language and Literature aligned with the school’s international curriculum (e.g., IB PYP/MYP/DP, IGCSE, A-Level, AP English, Homeroom ;or a standards-based international framework).
Teach a wide range of skills—including reading comprehension, writing, speaking, listening, and critical analysis—tailored to various age groups and proficiency levels, from foundational literacy to advanced literary study.
Foster an inclusive, engaging, and intellectually stimulating classroom atmosphere where every student feels empowered to express ideas, explore diverse perspectives, and develop confidence in using English.
Integrate a diverse range of literary texts, non-fiction, media, and cultural contexts into the curriculum, exposing students to global and local voices, genres, and historical periods.
Develop students’ abilities to analyze texts critically, construct coherent arguments, communicate effectively in written and spoken forms, and conduct independent research through varied assessments (e.g., essays, presentations, creative projects, examinations).
Effectively manage classroom resources, including literary texts, digital tools, and multimedia materials, to create an organized and inspiring learning environment.
Organize and contribute to school-wide English-related events such as debates, drama performances, writing competitions, book clubs, and literary festivals.
Differentiate instruction to meet the varied learning needs, interests, and language proficiencies of students in a bilingual/multilingual setting.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues within the English department and across disciplines (e.g., Social Studies, Drama, Art) to promote interdisciplinary learning and literacy across the curriculum.
Maintain regular and clear communication with parents regarding student progress, curriculum expectations, and strategies for support.
Participate actively in professional development, departmental meetings, and school initiatives focused on pedagogical innovation and student growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, English Literature, English Education, or a closely related field (Master’s degree preferred).
A recognized teaching qualification/certification (e.g., PGCE, teaching license, QTS).
Minimum of 2–3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in English, preferably within an international K–12 school setting.
Native or near-native proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is essential. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a significant advantage for collaboration and communication in the bilingual context.
Demonstrated passion for literature and language, with strong pedagogical skills in teaching English to diverse learners.
Proficiency with educational technology tools relevant to English instruction (e.g., digital literacy platforms, learning management systems, multimedia creation tools).
Familiarity with one or more international English/literature curricula and their assessment practices.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and intercultural competence skills.
