Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and qualified English Teacher to deliver engaging and comprehensive English language and literature education across primary and secondary levels. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore diverse texts, develop advanced communication skills, and cultivate an appreciation for language, literature, and culture. They will empower students to think critically, express themselves confidently, and engage meaningfully with both local and global contexts. This role requires adaptability to teach within different school curricula while maintaining high standards of academic rigor and inquiry.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons in English aligned with the school’s international curriculum (e.g., IB PYP/MYP/DP, IGCSE, A-Level, AP English, or a standards-based international framework).
Teach a broad spectrum of English skills, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, literary analysis, grammar, and vocabulary, using authentic materials and meaningful real-world applications.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating classroom environment where students feel confident to share ideas, collaborate, and develop their expressive and interpretive abilities.
Integrate diverse literary traditions, contemporary global issues, and ethical perspectives into the curriculum, highlighting the role of language and literature in shaping societies and promoting intercultural understanding.
Develop students’ abilities to analyze texts, construct evidence-based arguments, and communicate effectively in various genres and formats, assessed through essays, presentations, projects, discussions, and examinations.
Manage classroom and learning resources effectively, including literature sets, digital tools, and multimedia materials, to create an organized and inspiring learning space.
Organize and showcase student learning through displays, performances, publications, and participation in school-wide events such as literary festivals, debates, writing contests, or extracurricular clubs.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and language proficiencies of students within a bilingual or multilingual setting.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the English Department and across disciplines (e.g., Social Studies, Drama, World Languages) to design and implement interdisciplinary learning experiences.
Maintain clear and regular communication with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and participation in class activities.
Participate actively in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, English Education, Literature, or a closely related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 2–3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in English, preferably within an international K–12 school setting.
Demonstrated subject matter expertise and a track record of effective teaching practice, supported by a portfolio or examples of lesson/unit plans and student work.
Strong knowledge of English language pedagogy, literary traditions, and contemporary educational methodologies.
Familiarity with one or more international English/literacy curricula and their associated assessment methods.
Excellent communication, intercultural competence, and collaborative skills.
