Job Title: English Teacher

Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and qualified English Teacher to deliver engaging and comprehensive English language and literature education across primary and/or secondary levels. The ideal candidate will inspire a lifelong love of language, literature, and communication. They will empower students to become confident, critical, and articulate readers, writers, speakers, and thinkers within a global context. This role requires adaptability to teach within different school curricula while maintaining high standards of academic rigor and literacy development.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons in English Language Arts and/or English Literature aligned with the school's international curriculum (e.g., IB PYP/MYP/DP, IGCSE, A-Level, AP English, or a standards-based international framework).
Teach a broad spectrum of skills and content, including but not limited to: critical reading and analysis of diverse texts (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, media), effective writing across genres, academic research, oral communication, presentation skills, and grammatical proficiency.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that values diverse perspectives and encourages respectful dialogue, collaboration, and intellectual risk-taking.
Cultivate an appreciation for the power of language and stories from various cultures, historical periods, and global contexts, highlighting themes of identity, society, and human experience.
Develop students' abilities to construct coherent arguments, analyze authorial choices, and express ideas with clarity and precision, assessed through essays, projects, presentations, portfolios, and examinations.
Integrate modern technology and digital literacy tools to enhance learning, creativity, and communication.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and language proficiencies (including EAL support) of students within a bilingual or multilingual setting.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues in the English Department, other subject areas, and pastoral teams to design interdisciplinary learning experiences and support whole-student development.
Maintain clear and regular communication with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and learning goals.
Participate actively in professional development opportunities, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiatives related to literacy and international education.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, English Literature, Education (with English specialization), or a closely related field. A teaching certification/license is required.
Minimum of 2-3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in English, preferably within an international K-12 school setting.
Demonstrated subject matter expertise and a passion for literature and language, supported by a portfolio or examples of lesson/unit plans and student work.
Strong knowledge of pedagogical approaches for teaching reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Excellent communication, intercultural competence, and collaborative skills.
Proficiency in using educational technology to support language learning.
