Job Description
Help children fall in love with stories, not just “learn English”.
At Storyland, we use books, stories, and big questions to help children grow as readers, thinkers, and human beings. We are now hiring 6 Story Mentors to join our team in Shanghai and teach across three age groups:
- Early Years / Kindergarten (ages 5–6) – 2 roles open
- Primary (ages 7–11) – 1 roles open

Who you are

You love stories and children, are humble enough to learn, and can work well in a team. You are open to feedback and excited to build a new professional path.

We care deeply about:
- Human warmth and empathy – you see children as people, not “mini adults”.
- Children’s perspective – you can imagine how a shy, curious, or restless child feels.
- Creativity and expressiveness – you enjoy playing with stories, questions, and activities.
- Educational outlook – you care about growth, not just grades.

- Guide students to talk about emotions, values, and big ideas through stories.
- Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and basic literary analysis through meaningful texts, not dry drills.
- Support children in building healthy reading habits during library coaching time.
- Work closely with a supportive team of Chinese and foreign colleagues who share ideas, feedback, and materials.
You will not be left alone to “figure it out”. We have a growing curriculum and a team that collaborates on how to make each class more engaging and human.
