Position Overview:
The Homeroom Teacher serves as the primary academic and pastoral guide for an assigned class of elementary students. They are responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that supports the holistic development of each child—academically, socially, and emotionally. The Homeroom Teacher works closely with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Instruction & Classroom Management

Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in core subjects (e.g., language arts, math, science, social studies) aligned with the school’s curriculum and standards.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, abilities, and interests of all students.
Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment that promotes active learning and responsible behavior.
Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative evaluations, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
Pastoral Care & Student Development

Act as the primary point of contact for students regarding their well-being, academic progress, and social integration.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom community where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to express themselves.
Implement social-emotional learning (SEL) activities and strategies to help students develop self-awareness, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
Identify and address individual student needs, collaborating with school counselors, special education staff, and administrators when necessary.
Parent & Guardian Communication

Maintain regular, clear, and constructive communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events.
Conduct parent-teacher conferences and respond promptly to parent inquiries or concerns.
Encourage parental involvement in classroom activities and school-wide events.
Collaboration & Professional Duties

Work collaboratively with grade-level teams, specialist teachers, and support staff to plan interdisciplinary units and ensure consistency in student support.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school committees as required.
Assist in the supervision of students during non-instructional times (e.g., recess, lunch, assemblies).
Contribute to school-wide initiatives, events, and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; teaching certification/license required.
Prior experience teaching elementary-aged children preferred.
Strong knowledge of child development and age-appropriate pedagogical practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
Proficiency in using educational technology to enhance teaching and learning.
