Job Description

Overview of role

As Product Manager, you are responsible for Digital Experience in the OpenJaw t-Retail Platform, Dragonfly edition. You will work with the team to enhance the existing product offering based on existing requirements and also help to define new concepts based on your industry experience and your insights gained through direct interactions with our customers and prospects.

The role requires a strong blend of business, design and technical skills; the ability to define a strategic 3-year vision combined with the practical skills and passion to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand domain problems and find innovative solutions for the broader market that can be used by multiple customers.

Within the team you are a leader who motivates and inspires everyone around you. You will build strong relationships based on trust and openness and you will work very closely with the Tech Lead from the engineering team. You are not responsible directly for the engineering team but you do have overall accountability for the Digital Experience unit’s performance and for delivering key outcomes for the business.

You must be able to communicate with all functions in the both organisations by engaging with stakeholders in OpenJaw and TravelSky in order to bring people together under a shared vision and purpose. In addition to defining and prioritising high-level market requirements you will also be expected to define product requirements at a sufficient level of detail for the product development team to be able to estimate, plan and implement.

You must ensure that you focus your efforts on clarifying the functional business requirements and UX Design, supporting your decisions with real data points and you must not become involved in specifying technical solutions, this is the responsibility of the development team.


Additionally, you will work with sales and marketing teams to define the go-to-market strategy, helping people across both organisations to understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customers. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering and its benefits.


Key Responsibilities

  • Specifying market requirements for current and future product offerings by gathering real-world customer insights through continuous engagement with customers and prospects in the airline industry


  • Managing the product designs and requirements, coordinating UX Design and supporting the engineering team in the development, delivery, launch and operation


  • Using a design-led approach to product development, whereby UX Design and User Testing are core to your mobile-centric product development strategy


  • Creation of product marketing collateral to communicate the key value propositions, conducting competitor analysis and generally supporting the TravelSky sales team


  • Identifying and assessing key partners and suppliers


  • Building relationships with important players in the Digital space in China to ensure that OpenJaw’s Digital Experience is effectively reaching consumers on the correct channels (e.g. TenCent/WeChat, cTrip etc.)

  • Conducting ‘build vs. buy’ analysis when making decisions about adding non-strategic functionality to the core product offering

Candidate Requirements

  • 3 years of travel industry experience with a strong focus on Airlines/eCommerce


  • 3 years as a Product Manager or equivalent role in a technology company


  • Commercial outlook, your primary function is to support growth and profitability


  • Relevant academic qualifications, min. degree level plus post-graduate desirable


  • Comprehensive understanding of Lean Agile principles and experience using them


  • Good communication and presentation skills are a must, both in person and written


  • Deep knowledge of UX Design and UI technologies, particularly relating to mobile


  • This position will require regularly travelling to meet customers and prospects on-site
