Job Description

    Responsibilities of the General Manager:


    In China the General Manager is the person ultimate responsible on the final decisions, with regard to contracts in China, personnel and finance / budgets. You will develop and oversee structures and procedures.


    Job description:

    General Manager, this position contains, but is not limited to, the following activities:



  • Operations: Manage local operational teams (BU Commerce, Logistics & Sourcing)

    • Support local operational teams in achieving targets.
    • Support BU managers with on-boarding new brands and principals
    • Main point of contact for China team
    • Main point of contact for BU managers (i.e. regarding performance, priorities)
    • Build & professionalise the operational teams
    • Standardise and supervise internal processes, procedures en instructions
    • Monitor and follow through on contractual deliverables with principals
    • Support BU managers to write proposals for prospects

    • HRM: Evaluation, recruitment, application, training, education and personal development to increase employee satisfaction. Create a positive and well-balanced working environment within the company,


  • Finance: Oversee the financial administration

    • Reporting of results
    • Invoicing
    • Reimbursements
    • Budget Control


  • Marketing: “Representative” for MAiNS towards:

    • Partners;
    • Principals (during trips / visits):
    • Customers of principals;
    • Other parties (DigiDutch, lawyers, admin, accountants, landlord
    • Marketing focused externally (website / Linkedin)


  • Project Management :

    • Standardise and supervise internal processes, procedures en instructions
    • Monitor and follow through on contractual deliverables with principals
    • Improvement/change management
    • Quality Management

    § Sales: Western Brand positioning in China online and offline. Less focus in the beginning, gradually more focus.


    Personal Qualifications:



  • Seniority, a person who will be accepted by team, third parties, principals, customers of principals as manager/representative.

    • Negotiation, persuasion, influence


  • Experience in Team Management / Leading a team is a must


  • Sales and/or Marketing experience is a plus


  • Work experience in a trading company is a plus


  • Project Management experience is a plus

  • Professional Qualifications:

    • Fluent in English both spoken and written;
    • Fluent in Mandarin both spoken and written;
    • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office;
    • Cross-Cultural work experience;
