In this role, you’ll monitor third-party inspection audits, perform AQL checks, and support vendor development, negotiations, sourcing, production management, and performance reporting. In addition to managing the timeline of new products and supporting our core business, you’ll also keep an eye out for new vendors who can help us achieve our ambitious product and scalability goals. What you’ll do:

• Oversee Warby Parker’s entire China vendor base in the Shenzhen and Xiamen regions to drive cost and quality improvements

• Assess and improve suppliers’ production processes (e.g., reduce scrap rate and defects) and share best practices to decrease overhead and lead time

• Evaluate vendors’ internal DUPRO processes and quality systems; set AQL standards for final inspections by vendors based on results and benchmarked across all vendors

• Oversee all final third-party inspections on replenishment purchase orders and conduct AQL Level II inspections on all new product development ahead of initial shipment

• Monitor each supplier's performance through measurements of production line statistics, third-party AQL inspections, and social compliance audits; report your findings in our quarterly business review

• Ensure the accuracy of production and delivery timelines shared with the Product Development team, providing visibility into the flexibility of shipment dates

• Consolidate shipments with shared FCA dates with our freight forwarder

• Identify potential problems in product designs, specifications, and materials, pinpointing their causes and proposing Corrective Action Plans

• Ensure vendor adherence to Warby Parker’s Vendor Compliance Manual and facilitate chargebacks when appropriate

• Bring on new suppliers and coach existing suppliers to improve reliability and quality

Who you are:

• Equipped with 5–8 years of experience in production processes and technologies, manufacturing, testing in the manufacturing sector or for a third-party agency, and/or sourcing for a global retailer

• Someone who’s worked in eyewear product development and sourcing

• Fluent in Mandarin and English

• A strong cross-functional collaborator and an excellent communicator, both in writing and in person

• Detail-oriented with solid organizational and analytical skills

• A seasoned, successful project manager

• An expert in Microsoft Excel

• Proficient in Adobe applications (for viewing tech drawings, combining files, making edits) and able to read technical drawings

• Comfortable learning web applications and proprietary software

• Well-versed in AQL methodology—you’re able to conduct both DUPRO and final quality control audits

• Highly knowledgeable about worldwide safety and compliance requirements, product compliance processes, and the interplay with global supply chains

• Not on the Officer of Inspector General’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)

• Able to travel daily within the Shenzhen region (you must have own vehicle)

Extra Credit:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
