Key Responsibilities & Tasks

？ Implement technical projects in the design, development, testing and documentation of heavy material lifting products.

？ Investigate and provide solutions for complex problems where detailed analysis of situations or data is required

？ Perform design and analysis of steel and aluminum components and welded structures, and electrical and hydraulic control systems.

？ Develop new designs from initial concept to implementation and improve existing designs.

？ May lead projects or sub projects as part of a greater project.

？ Verify and document compliance with applicable ANSI and international standards.

？ Specify component and machine testing, create procedures and detail testing processes.

？ Document designs with solid part models, assemblies, and detailed drawings in SolidWorks.

？ Verify designs using traditional analytical methods in conjunction with dynamic and finite element analysis software.

？ Create and maintain complete machine product structures including bills of materials, Models and Options, and service parts information.

？ Research, specify and test manufactured and purchased parts working closely with the materials group and suppliers.

？ Maintain a focus on design for manufacturability and work closely with the ME department and production facility to assist in product and process improvements.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

？ ABET accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering OR B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

？ Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Proficient with solid modeling (SolidWorks preferred).

？ Excellent PC skills including Excel and Word.

？ Experience in machine design or related industry.

？ Ability to follow sequenced work associated with complex design tasks.

？ Demonstrated team player qualities.

？ Ability to proactively seek out solutions to technical problems, learn, and teach others.

？ Experience with engineering changes and documentation processes.

？ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

？ Strong orientation towards safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

？ Ability to perform detailed component and machine testing procedures.

？ Knowledge of industry standards and requirements.

？ Ability to work on the shop floor.

？ Structural and stability analysis experience including FEA.

？ Experience with design of electrical and hydraulic systems.

Understanding of and commitment to lean Manufacturing.
