Shanghai Genome Center is seeking a full time Technical Director to be part of our clinical laboratory team (day shift) based in Shanghai. At Shanghai Genome Center, we believe that all patients with cancer deserve to have access to molecularly informed therapy and clinical trials.

Primary Objective of Position:

The Technical Director is a key member of the Shanghai Genome Center Oncology team with responsibility for monitoring and maintaining all technical standards to meet continuous performance improvement, customer service, and delivery requirements. The Technical Director’s responsibilities relate to directing laboratory operations, assessing staffing needs, accommodating workflow fluctuation and management thereof and partner support.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

• Develop operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures

• Develop and Implement new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; prepare proposals; develop and perform parallel testing; monitor progress.

• Ensuring staff compliance with all processes and procedures

• Work closely with bioinformatics team to identify information needs and issues; recommend improvements and establish priorities

• Prepare SOPs and train employees; maintain security and confidentiality.

• Follow laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas, including identification of peak and slack periods and making operational or staffing adjustment.

• Maintain a professional appearance and interact effectively to build respectful relationships with coworkers, supervisor and other personnel.

• Respond positively to change and willingness to learn new ways to accomplish work.

• Communicate effectively to enhance productivity, build respect, and seek constructive approaches to resolving workplace issues.

Education & Professional Experience Required

• Candidate should have a PhD. in a molecular biology, biology, biochemistry, genetics or clinical laboratory science

• R&D and NGS experience in a clinical laboratory preferred

• 5 years of experience in CLIA/CAP laboratories laboratories
