ABB is seeking a Senior Category Team Lead, Marketing and Consulting for its Cary, North Carolina. This role is responsible to develop, plan and implement Supply Chain Management (SCM) strategy focused on optimizing costs, quality, delivery and reliability of suppliers and supplied products for an assigned category or group of categories. The position will ensure execution in accordance with Company, SCM and Supply Base Management instructions and procedures. This individual will also lead assigned Category/Categories in close partnership/collaboration with our regional business in cross-country set-up.

The objective of this position is to leverage the purchasing power of ABB on a global and regional level and to achieve the set performance targets for the categories “Other HR Services” such as employee relocation services, schooling cost, payroll services, personnel administration services, and medical services. The position holder will manage the assigned cross-country category teams and ensure that regional category strategies are defined and implemented in close partnership/collaboration with key stakeholders.

Your responsibilities

  • Performance Management:
  • Set cost reduction targets for all category teams in scope based on corporate targets.
  • Ensure target achievement according to the IM&S operational dashboard (especially cost reduction/avoidance and supplier reduction).
  • Develop the category teams to a high performing organization.
  • Strategic Sourcing (CIPS):
  • Select category team members to cover assigned spend area.
  • Ensure that the CIPS methodology is applied in a meaning full and pragmatic manner.
  • Facilitate strategy review meetings involving internal clients when necessary.
  • Define category strategies and manage the execution of the respective category plans.
  • Consolidate the supplier base in a sustainable way.
  • Sourcing Execution (RFI/ RFQ):
  • Drive RFIs and RFQs and manage the assigned project team.
  • Ensure that the ABB eSourcing tool is leveraged whenever feasible.
  • Define RFQ processes and negotiation strategies.
  • Ensure that contracts for preferred suppliers are based on ABB’s terms and conditions and filed in ProSupply.
  • Supplier Management and Quality:
  • Actively manage supplier portfolio including but not limited to Supplier consolidation, reduction, evaluation and, classification and run regular review meeting.
  • Solve cost/quality/scheduling issues and leads claim management (when escalated).
  • Steer twice a year Review Meetings with Key Suppliers and Stakeholders.
  • Drive Supplier Relationship Management and Supplier Quality to next level strategy to further reduce Supply Base, Network of Collaboration and Conflicts (NCCs) and improve Net Working Capital (NWC).
  • Drive improvements, sustainability and cost-out projects with Suppliers for long-term partnership.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Active interface with our GBS SCM Centers.
  • Alignment with peer Category Managers of same category in other regions.
  • Active support to Country Business Partners (CBP) to facilitate business, strategy and performance discussions.
  • Act as a sole interface to defined business units as assigned.
  • Actively drive and support the ramp-up and build-up of the CoE-I Strategic Community in AMC Region.
  • Blend into to global assigned Category community and drive tasks globally as assigned and agreed with region/global IM&S Management.

Your background

  • High School diploma and 16 years’ experience in supply management with a minimum of 6 years strategic sourcing OR;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/HR, Business Administration/Finance/Legal/Pre-Law/Marketing/Communications and 12 years’ experience in supply management with a minimum of 6 strategic sourcing OR;
  • Master’s Degree and 10 years’ experience in supply management with 6 years in strategic sourcing.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
  • ISM or CSPM Certification a plus.
  • Extensive experience in Negotiation Management and Negotiation Tactics.
  • Strong understanding of Contract Management.
  • Wide range know-how in Supplier Management and Supplier Relationship.
  • Strong Project Management and Communication skills.
  • Experience working in international environments and managing Stakeholders of varying Management Levels.
  • Superior spoken and written English.
  • Second language a plus, desired language: Spanish, Portuguese, French or German.
  • Self-starter mentality.
  • Desire to work in a strong and fast paced newly established regional team.
  • Travel: 20%-30%.
