ABB is seeking Transformer Field Service Technician C for its Anaheim, CA location. This is a Field Role requiring approximately 90% travel primarily in California and the Western States but possibly throughout the US and Canada.
It is expected that with appropriate training and experience a Transformer Technician C will progress to a Senior Transformer Technician within approximately 2-3 years of experience. ABB will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States.

Your responsibilities

• The Transformer Technician C will be under the direction of a Senior Transformer Technician, duties a Field Service Technician C will participle in include, but will not be limited to:
• Participation in the Field Testing, Evaluation and Repair of Large Substation Class Transformers on Customer Sites.
• Conduct Transformer Repairs and Service utilizing a variety of Hand, Power Tools, and Heavy Equipment (Fork Lifts, Man Lifts, Testing Equipment, etc) in a safe and productive manner.
• Requirement to access and work within confined spaces, from elevated platforms, and off Step and Extension Ladders.
• Maintain assigned repair and service equipment and operate it within its capabilities and limitations.
• Ensure that fellow workers on the job site perform their work in accordance with HSE requirements and best practices.
• Inform Team Leaders, of potential opportunities for new business, or opportunities to improve our operations, or improve the value of our service offering to our customers.
• The Transformer Technician C is a physically challenging Customer Service Oriented role. Repairs are often of an emergency nature requiring a high degree of flexibility and tolerance of variable conditions, schedules and physical environments.
• Non-standard schedules with substantial Overtime requirements often with very little notice. On Site work with an exposure to variable environmental conditions under challenging project schedules.
• Requirement to travel to and work in Remote customer locations.

Your background

• Minimum of Associate Degree or Diploma in an Electrical program or related industrial field and a minimum of Two (2) years of related experience. A combination of lesser education and/or applicable field service experience will also be considered.
• Knowledge and interest in large equipment installation and assembly.
• Familiarity with transformer designs and their internal components.
• Ability to learn and conduct functional testing and troubleshooting of control cabinets and circuits.
• You must deal with customers, fellow team members, and other contractors in a calm, courteous, and professional manner using solid judgment that protects safety, productivity and equipment.
• As an involved and committed Team Member, actively and enthusiastically assist in the resolution of complex technical problems, and participate in the implementation of developed solutions.
• Comfort with computers and Windows Software, MS Office, and Specific ABB Applications.
• Requirement to Possess (or ability to obtain) and Maintain a valid passport and driver’s license.

• Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
