The Senior Proposals Engineer will be responsible for leading and preparing complete technical tenders, project proposals, and commercial responses. You will be the expert in delivering competitive bids/estimates/quotations to customers for electrical, instrumentation and controls in the Energy Industries local business line in Canada. Reporting to the proposals team lead, your attention to detail and ability to collaborate with multiple partners will be vital to this key component of proposal development.
Your responsibilities
- Formulating bids that fully address customer needs and offering the most efficient and cost-effective solutions, in line with ABB policy.
- Ensuring the timely and accurate formulation of tender documents through coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Managing all aspects of the bid — including technical, financial, product management and risk reviews, in line with ABB standards.
- Coordinating with Supply Chain to identify potential suppliers for equipment and materials, through regular analysis of customer needs and market trends.
- Contributing to an effective, positive customer relationship throughout the Sales process.
- Analyzing and reporting on tender outcomes and identifying areas for improvement to increase success.
- Serve as a bid leader and liaison between the engineering team preparing estimates and the customer. Participate in customer meetings, direct communication exchange and negotiations with clients.
- Consolidate bid information into a well-organized, competitive and appealing responses. Deliverables include pricing, scope, list of technical and commercial exceptions, references, schedules, technical support documentation, certificates, T&Cs, etc.

Your background
- A technology diploma or engineering degree in an electrical / automation field.
- More than 5 years of experience in Estimations and Tendering, working in proposal development with electrical / automation products.
- Sound knowledge of technology solutions within the Utilities, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Chemicals Industries market in Canada.
- Current professional engineering or technology license, valid in Canada, will be considered beneficial.
- Experience in working with technical specifications for electrical systems, instrumentation & automation, equipment replacement and installation (mechanical & electrical)
- Experience within documentation management databases and Microsoft applications are required.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
