ABB is market leader in fast charging solutions which enable 15-30 min. charging time for electric cars, a game-changing technology which allows mass adoption of clean transportation. Next to charging systems, our web-connected fast charging solutions offer a wide range of connectivity features such as remote monitoring, remote management & assistance, payment system and smart-grid integration. In 2016, based on the same technology platform ABB launched an automated fast charger for electric busses, which can recharge an electric city bus in 5-10 minutes without any driver intervention. This product line is now commercially rolled out. Therefore we are looking for a: Project Leader EV Charging Infrastructure, who will also guide and support other project managers in different counties, doing similar projects for the first time.

For our application team in Delft, we are looking for a:

Product specialist / all-round software developer EV Charging Infrastructure

You start being the software developer who is fully responsible to centrally support new EV charging products used in projects worldwide. The works are a wide variety of task to make sure the products have a well prepared and understood touch down in a country service organization. Once you get more knowhow your tasks will be expended with solutions customization projects.

How your day could look like, just a random pick of the task which could occur:

Your responsibilities

  • You will join a kickoff meeting with a customer in Spain as product specialist,
  • Create scripting to role out of a new software releases world wide
  • Setup a micro grid test bench with PLC’s, BESS and linux PC’s to simulate a site to optimize performance,
  • Write a product description and service instructions for handing over a new software product you made,
  • Create a model or algorithm to solve a specific smart grid application for a customer in Chile,
  • Conduct remote testing via Skype with local onsite engineers and supported by specialists developers
  • Guide R&D pilot projects in Sweden and give field feedback to improve the product,
  • Join the Friday afternoon frying pan snack time with your colleagues in our head office in Rijswijk

Your background

  • You have a technical degree (HBO or TU level);
  • You have at least 4 year’s experience in software development
  • Knowledge of C, C++, Bash, Python and PLC languages
  • Designing and implementing software for PC, PLC and embedded systems
  • Capable of reading and understanding electrical and electronic designs
  • Experience with troubleshooting of PLC and Linux controlled systems
  • Experience with microcontrollers and RTOS
  • Knowledge of network and network protocols like TCP, DHCP
  • Create test procedures and do or conduct tests in the field
  • Giving remote support for technical problems in the field
  • You are a punctual person who performs the actions in a timely manner with a short response time
  • You have a good knowledge of Dutch and English
  • Willing to travel, usual short trips and seldomly in weekends
