The Power Distribution Field Technician is an experienced role supporting our Field Services
Group in performing installation, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on
electrical distribution equipment.
Your responsibilities
Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Utilize the appropriate PPE and maintain a safe working environment adhering to the highest level of safety standards meeting ABB and customer safety standards
• Maintain knowledge of, and conduct work activities in compliance with, the EPIS Safety Manual and Safety policy
• Assist field engineers by performing on-site installation, preventative maintenance, testing, repair and calibration of electrical distribution equipment
• Perform administrative function such as: writing technical reports, preparing job status reports, timesheet and expense submittal on a timely and accurate basis
Your background
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college (or High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of industry experience)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in servicing (installing, troubleshooting, repairing or calibrating)
• One of more of the following electrical distribution equipment: UPS, ATS, PSG, switchboard, low voltage circuit breakers, medium voltage circuit breakers, motor starter or relays
• Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a valid passport and driver's license
• Ability and willingness to travel at least 30% of the time with some overnight stays, as required
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the following test equipment: hi-current test set, power factor test set, ductor, meggar, multimeter and I / R camera
• Prior military experience
• Service experience with GE, Square-D, Siemens or Cutler Hammer electrical distribution equipment
• Experience working in a customer service environment
• Excellent PC Skills – Specifically MS Office Suite: Outlook, Excel and Word
• Detail orientated with good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in team environment
• Self-starter, energetic and ambitious
