ABB is seeking an entry level, design technician to perform prototype assembly, validation testing and Failure Mode Analysis (FMA) of electronic power supplies during New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change (EC) processes. The technician role consists of executing a comprehensive list of electrical and stress tests and documenting the results.

Your responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering specifications, electrical schematics and block diagrams
  • Assemble board level electronics including soldering surface mount and through-hole components
  • Prepare test equipment and fixtures; perform testing of electronic power supplies
  • Execute detailed test plans to validate component stress conditions
  • Document all test results in accordance with standard formats
  • Assist engineering teams to interpret and duplicate non-compliances
  • Maintain lab testing and calibration standards per ISO requirements
  • Follow all EH&S safety requirements such as LOTO

Your background

  • Associates Degree (2 year) in Electronics
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, meters, and data logging instruments
  • Experience with soldering techniques
  • Detailed knowledge of switch mode power supply functionality
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements as they apply to power systems to determine whether documented requirements and standards are met
  • Working knowledge of AC sources, electronics loads and thermal chambers
  • Experience with Microsoft MACROs, Visual Basic and other lab automation software
  • Ability to efficiently manage time and coordinate priorities with multiple engineers
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft EXCEL and WORD
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States.
