The Bid & Proposal Manager is responsible to lead and develop the Proposal team. The proposal team is the primary resource for all engineered motor RFQs and a key technical resource for internal and external customers. The Bid and Proposal Manager will work with the team to prioritize all incoming RFQs and communicate the target delivery of the proposal that is in line with customer expectations. The goal is to ensure to provide the cusotmer with the best product or system for its specific application. The team leader will also ensure that the proposal process is followed with the proper approval as per the table of authority along with supporting documents such as proposal, cost model and factory quotations. This position is also responsible for supporting the Product Managers, Field Sales and Inside Sales to help growth the business and achieve order goals.
Your responsibilities
- Review and comment customer’s specification and requirements
- Review of legal aspect – Terms and Conditions of Sales
- Opportunity screening and control workflow
- Implement Key performance indicators and report to Product Group Managers
- Responsible of internal cost structure (FCM)
- Approval per Table of Authority (SOX compliant)
- Communication with ABB factories for commercial negotiations & technical clarifications
- Initiate kick-off calls with sales team to review RFQ and establish a game plan
- Team development – increase skill set and cross training
- Process improvement to streamline process and improve customer responsiveness
- Supervise and participate to :
- Product dimensioning and selection for LV and MV Motors
- Preparation of quotations and provide assistance for pricing within mandated timeframe
- Product suggestions, technical support (level 2-3) and competitive cross references
- Write value added proposals for low and medium voltage Motors
- Negotiation/clarification phase with customers during bidding process
- Customers and Sales team Training
Your background
- The candidate must be able to present technically and commercially the proposed solution to the end users, consultant, technicians, engineers, purchasing manager, etc.
- Use of Judgment and initiative necessary to identify priorities, solve problems, meet schedule, adapt to change and choose the most efficient ways to do the work.
- 5 years of experience in proposal writing and sales support roles
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineer degree
- Sense of urgency respect of time commitment
- Technical and commercial knowledge and understanding of IEC & Nema Low voltage Motors and Medium Voltage Motors
- Be an “out of the box” thinker able to see other opportunities in business growth
- Writing and Speaking French and English (Would be an asset)
- Proficient with Microsoft office products, SAP & Salesforce
- Ease of using different Configurator and selection tools
- Personal initiative and leadership to complete projects and resolve conflicts or problems
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high attention to detail
- Strong sales and customer focused orientation
- Strong communication and people skills, team player
- Ability to follow procedures and methodology and make suggestions for improvements
- Ability to recognize when an inquiry needs to be escalated and reassigned
