The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Specialist is responsible for instilling and fostering proactive HSE-conscious culture and drive operational ownership of ABB's Health, Safety & Environment programs through all levels of the organization within the Plano location.

Your responsibilities

• Engage cross function to promote HSE culture and enhance to implement EHS programs
• Expected to resolve problems through the application of acquired expertise guided by precedent
• Contacts are under guidance and/or geared towards specifying activities, planning of activities and giving explanations on technical issues
• Presents to internal teams on metrics, project status and research.
• Collate and report HSE metrics in a timely manner. Analyze for trends to make further improvements to the programs.
• Provide leadership and guidance in complying with all local EHS legal requirements.
• Identify risks, develop and drive Heat map/SOD/SRA implementation.
• Manage Gensuite, a ABB HSE digital tool and conduct training to the relevant functions on its usage.
• Management program for the site.
• Monitor and drive completion of site compliance tasks.
• Lead team of HSE Framework element owners to ensure successful EHS management system implementation at the site.
• Assist with HSE classroom training preparation and delivery and maintain the site's EHS Training Tracker database.
• Perform HSE audits / inspections and ensure appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented on a timely basis.
• Lead and/or participate in incident investigations and ensure appropriate root causes are identified and corrective actions are developed / implemented.
• Evaluate site HSE risks and challenges and develop appropriate risk reduction strategies, including Risk Assessments.
• Maintain safety and health records and documents required by ABB HSE and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional tasks, as required by the HSE Leader.
• Interface with MOC process for health and safety components.
• Participate in department development and planning process.

Your background

• Bachelors Degree
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a HSE, supply chain, or operations
• Experience in Risk Assessment Process.
• Experience in High Risk Operations.
• Experience in Hazard Recognition.
• Experience in Injury and Illness recordkeeping per OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration).
• Proficiency with computer tools. Advanced computer skills, primarily with MS Office software programs, i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and able to navigate internet and intranet tools.
• Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in United States.
