ABB is seeking a Procurement & Logistics Specialist, to provide support to Power Generation projects business. In this critical role, the Procurement & Logistics Specialist is the owner of the sourcing process, providing expertise and support to the proposal and project teams including but not limited to developing suppliers, conforming bid packages to project documents, validating and negotiating suppliers bids, improving the cost, issuing purchase orders and minimizing the risks for equipment and materials used in electrical and automation projects.
Your responsibilities
- Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Understand project targets and design and implement plan for local sourcing to reach the business targets across a portfolio of automation projects
- Screen supplier capabilities including performing organizational, financial, health and safety and process capability assessments in accordance with ABBs corporate supplier and subcontractor qualification policies and procedures.
- Prepare comprehensive bid packages, conduct bidder’s conferences and provide clarifications
- Conduct rigorous RFQ process including coordinating technical information exchange with engineering, statement of work reviews, analyzing quotation responses, detailed cost and gap analysis, and preparation of sourcing recommendations.
- Lead negotiations including final pricing and the establishment of supply contracts or master service agreements compliant with legal, customer requirements and ABB policies
- Issue purchase orders and subcontract documentation
- Work closely with proposals and project management teams to develop competitive proposals
- Prepare and implement procurement plans, schedules, lead and coordinate efforts of a project team.
- Manage supplier performance through the entire project by monitoring activities and deliveries against agreed milestones and in accordance with awarded contracts. Oversee subcontractor performance against budget and approve milestone payments.
- Apply and implement Procurement & Logistics standards, tools and processes in the area of responsibility to secure quality, delivery, cost and sustainability.
- Design and implement cost-out programs and/or processes to reach financial targets.
- Design and implement plans of Emerging Market/local sourcing to reach the business targets.
- As appropriate, recommend alternative sources of supply to minimize risks.
- Standardize processes and implements routines as per Group directives / instructions.
- Enforce terms and conditions of purchase orders, and compliance with legal requirements and Company policy.
- Resolve non-conformance issues, back-charges, and claims in a timely manner to minimize the Company’s exposure.
- Expedite purchases from suppliers for sites to minimize downtime and improve availability.
- Provide ongoing support to other functional areas, as it relates to purchasing issues.
- Gather and report purchasing metrics in support of the overall supply chain metrics. Metrics may include purchase price variance by buyer/supplier/commodity/country, cost savings and supplier reduction/rationalization/ diversity.
- Perform supplier performance evaluations.
- Evaluate and make recommendations regarding introduction of advanced procurement technologies and other measures to achieve operating efficiencies and increase customer satisfaction.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing.
- Participate in team problem solving efforts and offer ideas to solve client issues
- Create and maintain project procurement plans, on-time delivery and on-quality delivery reports.
Your background
- Your Background:
- Bachelors degree in supply chain, engineering, or business, and 5 years Supply Chain Management experience. (Experience in automotive, automation or electrical industry desirable).
- PMAC, Strategic Supply Chain Management certificate or CPSM certificate desirable. (Certified Professional in Supply Management)
- Knowledge of SAP is mandatory.
- Knowledge of IT hardware and Software procurement will be an asset.
- Knowledge of application of supply management tools and quality processes.
- Knowledge and understanding of purchasing terms and conditions.
- Costs price analysis and estimation.
- Understanding of Total cost of ownership concepts.
- Effective and Proven Negotiation Skills
- Ability to travel in USA & Canada.
- Ability to think “outside-the-box” in evaluating contractual issues and appropriate solutions.
- Computer literate with emphasis on MS Office, and MS Project; (Excel Medium to Advanced is required).
- General understanding of technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Self-motivated, organized team builder able to communicate clearly across multiple disciplines (Strong communications skills are required).
