ABB Integrated DC Power (IDCP) IT team is seeking an experienced enterprise data and analytics architect to support, develop and better integrate the ecosystem of business intelligence applications. IDCP is currently in the process of transforming the business intelligence solutions currently supporting the business and is seeking to upgrade its Data warehouse, ETL and Data visualization tech stack to solve for a myriad of shortcomings and gaps.

In this role you will lead the execution and delivery of this new solution architecture, partner with key business stakeholders and 3rd party solution providers and corporate IT to meet overall program objectives, budget and timeline expectations. As a member of the IDCP IT organization, you will have the opportunity to work in a high-paced, international environment, solve complex problems, lead our IT solution capability development and grow together with the rapidly developing business.

Your responsibilities

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Responsible for project management, technical architecture design, physical design, technology strategy, managing contractors, and budgets and will play a key role in engaging many parts of the information technology staff and peers to insure a successful rollout of an application solution

• Serve as technical expert responsible for the design & implementation of data base technology

• Set & administer standards for overall organization's relational database structure/architecture (currently, ORACLE, SQL, etc.)

• Research database technology, determine business requirements, propose changes, and develop migration and implementation plans, may execute projects based on these activities

• Ensure that plans for database technologies integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure

• Manage applications to current IT SLA expectations for uptime, performance and issue resolution

• Serve as technical expert responsible for the design and implementation of an assigned applications area(s), which supports client and/or business objectives and plans

• Assist or lead in the definition of systems solutions to functional problems, conforming to established system architecture standards and practices

• Produce documented application frameworks or architectures

• Participate in business process evaluation/improvement activities, requirements gathering, system analysis, system design, software / hardware applicability studies and system implementation and executes projects based on these activities

• Provide input into the technology plan for the IT organization, and ensure that plans for their assigned applications integrate effectively with other aspects of the technical infrastructure

• Advise management on application and supporting technology purchases and on future projects or environment upgrades / modifications

• Participate or lead in the analysis, design, coding, testing, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of information technology solutions for business processes

• Support, advise, assist guide and resolve problems for client users

• Work as a business partner with client users to evaluate / improve business processes and arrive at mutual, cost effective solutions

• Participate in the evaluation/implementation of third party software solutions

• Recommend alternatives for application portfolio migration that best align with business needs plus optimize maintainability and performance

• Leverage corporate IT and 3rd party solution providers where possible to improve service and reduce IT costs, using shared services to the fullest extent possible without compromising high quality delivery or cost reduction targets.

• Ensure effective engagement between local, corporate IT and 3rd party teams for all relevant IT infrastructure activities and, where required, monitor adherence to established service levels, ensuring that agreed time, budget, and quality specifications are met.

• Establish internal targets and programs that target continuous improvement of customer satisfaction levels for internal business partners and external customers where appropriate.

Your background

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related area from an accredited college or university and/or minimum 10 of years IT application development experience including enterprise wide deployments, business integrations and sustaining efforts.

• 10 plus years of experience administering and developing comparable business intelligence reporting and analytics platforms. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power-BI, Oracle Data warehouse design, Informatica is needed to be effective in this role. Working knowledge of Qlikview, Business Objects a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven analytical and problem resolution skills

• Excellent communication and facilitation skills that have been leveraged to drive change and successfully deliver significant IT programs. Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, technical and non-technical audiences, to convey complex IT information in a clear and concise fashion.

• Demonstrated ability to solve problems, determine appropriate actions and complete projects with little direction.

• Strong experience in project planning and execution

• Previous experience establishing internal continuous improvement activities to drive efficiencies, manage/reduce costs, and improve service.

• Experience leveraging shared IT services, internal or external, to drive cost effective service delivery.

• Solid experience as a change leader, preferably with experience instituting new, global processes and tools.
