The Switchgear Repair A performs switchgear and control work of a difficult nature, including repair and test of existing standard equipment and assembly, and test of new equipment, both inside and outside of the shop.
Your responsibilities
As the Switchgear Repair A, you will:
• Assemble and test new equipment.
• Work with the customer and site to compose and propose outage plans to perform preventative maintenance on switchgear / switchboard.
• Possess basic knowledge of electro-mechanical and digital protective
• Relays to verify integrity of the device and conduct secondary current injections to verify, setup / program, and calibrate protective relays.
• Perform tests and troubleshoot small dry-type transformers less than 5MVA.
• Perform incoming inspection, problem diagnosis, and final inspection, as required.
• Direct and train other switchgear technicians.
• Generate work instructions and complete service reports.
• Be proficient with Lock-out / Tag-out procedures and practices. Travel to job sites.
Your background
Basic Qualification:
• High School Diploma / GED.
• Minimum of 10 years of field experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in repairing / overhauling Switchgear equipment.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, various shifts, holidays and weekends.
• Ability and willingness to travel and complete overnight stays.
• Ability and willingness to work on nuclear sites.
• Ability and willingness to attend and pass Switchgear 1 class within 12 months of start date.
• Ability and willingness to obtain TWIC & ARSC cards.
Preferred Qualification:
• Two-year technical or Trade School Degree
• Accomplished skills in trade with experience on Switchgear Equipment
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
• Ability to work within a Safety and Quality focused organization
• Ability to lead and conduct preventative maintenance of SWGR in the field
• Ability to communicate with customer personnel
• Strong mechanical skills
• Strong computer skills to compose service reports
• Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal direction
• Willingness to accept job challenges
• Experience with Health and Safety programs
