You will be working within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists to support research and product development efforts in RUO and IVD environments within the Ion Torrent R&D group. This team is tasked with the overall hardware support and maintenance at each of the Ion Torrent sites.
What will you do?
- Provide service and maintenance for Ion Torrent instrumentation including debugging, troubleshooting and repairing faulty instrumentation within the CSD organization. Collaborate with development team and instrument users to identify issues and develop solutions.
- Develop support and training material for the broader Thermo Fisher support organization and Field Service teams for existing and in development instruments.
- Support project development representing service and support considerations.
- Track and quantitate failures and failure modes on internal instruments, including pulling necessary information from the R&D and field service teams.
- Work with our field teams to escalate, troubleshoot and identify common customer support issues related to Ion Torrent reagents and instruments.
- Maintain current and identify new tools and mechanisms to streamline information sharing and support between R&D and field teams.
- Provide training support for global teams for new and existing applications and NGS workflows. This includes creating troubleshooting guides, decision trees, training/support bulletins, application notes, data sets.
- Review service and customer documentation for accuracy and clarity.
EducationBachelors degree in Engineering, Biology or related discipline
Experience
- 3+ years experience in system engineering, hardware development or field service engineering (experience in next generation DNA sequencing and/or technical knowledge of the Ion Torrent platform is highly preferred)
- Previous customer support experience and resolving/troubleshooting problems in a creative manner
- Ability to travel up to 15%
- Willing to work hands-on in developing and executing a variety of activities
- Highly motivated and able to work in a dynamic environment with a hard-working and multidisciplinary team
- Proficient with Linux, basic programming and scripting languages, bioinformatics and instrument software is highly preferred
- Excellent project management skills (plan, prioritize, multi-task, organize, and follow through) while remaining highly energetic and focused
