This is an R&D Engineer role, reporting to R&D Team Manager in Business Area Robotics and Discrete Automation.

Your responsibilities

• Identifying, proposing and implementing innovative technology development and solutions by contributing with own ideas. Executing assigned product development tasks using unique technical knowledge.
• Demonstrating good technical proficiency in own competence area and performing a variety of technology/engineering assignments, demonstrating ability to recognize problems and providing input to solutions. Documenting work and contributing to written reports for area.
• Keeping informed of strategic plans and performing activities in line with current direction.
• Contributing to research and development (R&D) projects with own, creative ideas and proposing follow-up activities based on project results.
• Working as a reliable R&D project member and has the capability to be work-package responsible, applying a structured way of working.
• Gathering information about relevant ABB products and technologies in order to achieve efficiency in own R&D activities and developing an understanding of technical drivers and customer value and providing consulting services to business operations and customers.

Your background

• Must have a MS/PhD degree in electric engineering, electronics engineering, automation or equivalent.
• Must demonstrate solid technical proficiency in power electronics area, e.g. analog/digital electronics, control theory, power topology modeling, magnetics design, etc and EDA tools, e.g. OrCAD, Matlab, Ansys, etc.
• Rich experience on rectifier and inverter design.
• Must be familiar with motor control algorithm is a plus.
• Must showcase strong communication skill, highly responsible, self-motivated, autonomous at work and have a good team working spirit and willing to contribute to the team’s success.
• Fluency in both oral and written English.
