Windows Devices Group’s Manufacturing Test Engineering team at Microsoft is seeking a passionate, driven, and intellectually curious MTE Hardware Engineer to drive impact and deliver results in the world of Devices Manufacturing Test at Microsoft. The Manufacturing Test Engineering (MTE) Group is a core member in the Manufacturing and Strategic Sourcing (MnS) organization, which is part of the Experience and Devices (E+D) group at Microsoft. The MTE group is responsible for developing tests for testing of all Microsoft branded hardware devices. We develop partnerships with our internal hardware and software engineering and development teams and our third-party external suppliers to deliver high-quality test solutions that delight our customers and deliver a fantastic Windows experience.
Our MTE Hardware Engineer is responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining world class test and measurement stations used to bring E+D’s iconic Windows devices to the customer. MTE Engineers use their deep industry and market knowledge while partnering with R&D teams to define and create test solution for all Microsoft branded products. You must be a high energy, high impact individual with demonstrated ability to succeed in a dynamic business environment. Successful candidates will build long lasting, strategic partnerships with our partners and position Microsoft for sustained success.
Responsibilities
- Develop system solutions explicitly in both PCBA or Box Build area as part of a test solution for manufacturing of such products as Surface, Xbox, HoloLens and etc.
- Define test and measurement methods and system design.
- Design, integrate, debug, document, qualify, and support those solutions through an entire product development lifecycle
- Analyze lab, build and factory data to see test method functionality and reliability.
- Specify, manage and verify designs from outside suppliers.
- Partner with internal and external teams to develop test systems. Leverage existing solutions as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Master or equivalent in Engineering discipline.
- Demonstration of excellent communication, teamwork, documentation and organizational skills.
- Great attitude and self-motivation.
- Systematic and conceptual thinking.
- Work / Internship experience.
- Proficiency with Engineering design tools.
- Comfortable in a lab environment using test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, DMMs or others to characterize and analyze electrical circuits.
- Proficiency with board and system level design, analysis, verification, and documentation.
- Proficiency with statistical analysis methods and tools preferred.
- Experience delivering solutions for high-mix low-volume production is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot to root cause and solve complex problems.
- SPC and six sigma methodologies.
