Job Description

Purpose of the Position:
To provide support for internal customers in the implementation or enhancement of IT solutions for business processes and to serve as plant liaison for Centers of Competence for Daimler applications used at our location.
 
Essential Functions:  (List all basic responsibilities related to the purpose of the position)


Business Relationship Management:
• Support and advise the internal customer while forming an effective interface between the business department and IT.  Consult with business and service manager to develop technical solutions to meet business needs.
• Define the value and business benefits of services from the service catalogue. Identify opportunities for business process improvements based on the IT service catalogue and promote IT services and value.  
• Understand the IT service catalogue and other technology trends in order to offer recommendations and solutions that meet the business needs as appropriate.
• Ensure that all demands are coordinated through the request management process.  Work closely with the respective IT organizations (e.g. Business Consultant, Service Delivery, Project Management) to define the high-level design and estimation and tracking the status of the request. 
• Serve as facilitator between Business and IT.  Identify and utilize synergies across IT Organization to meet Business needs.


Demand (Request) Management:
• Accompany and support business requirement specification process when requested. 
• Ensure that all requests for IT services are recorded in the demand pipeline and reviewed fairly by upholding corporate processes.
• Conduct research, data collection, analysis and synthesis to prepare, present and deliver recommendations and solutions to business.
• Contribute to the development of a solution design that meets business requirements.
• Participate in the delivery and implementation of solutions for Business units. 
• Follow given range of business consulting methodologies, assets and work products to produce deliverables.
• Provide leadership on the development of business cases, service strategy, new service deployment and Service Lifecycle management schedules.


Solution Design:
• Analyze, describe and design applications and business processes in order to meet current and future MBUSI and Daimler business requirements.
• Work with business departments, local and global applications teams to analyze and optimize business processes, as well as identify weaknesses in the existing systems, processes and procedures and provide solutions in line with regional and global ITM standards.
• Ensure that documentation relating to business processes and supporting software is accurate and complete and maintained on central MBUSI IT document management system.
•Coordinate with CoC and local application teams enhancements and bug fixes regarding the configuration and validation of applications.


Testing, Training, and Rollout Coordination - 
• Evaluate, plan, design, develop, and deploy testing techniques for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles.
• Create and execute test scripts, cases, and scenarios that will determine optimal process/system performance according to specifications.
• Coordinate and/or conduct all types of application testing as needed, such as system, unit, regression, load, and acceptance testing methods.
• Analyze formal test results in order to discover and resolve defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
• Coordinate all  integration-testing with end users.
• Develop expertise in the given application to support the project goals and objectives.  
• Coordinate and participate in development of structured walk-throughs (system demonstrations and training) to the users.
• Coordinate the development and facilitation of training material for end users and technical support.
• Create application documentation in applicable systems and work instructions for operational sustainability.  




Project Management
• Plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. 
• Acquire resources and coordinate the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. 
• Define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.
• Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents. 
• Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
• Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
• Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
• Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
• Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify and mitigate potential risks/crises, and devise contingency plans.


Marginal Functions: (List responsibilities which are not essential, but may be required)
• Maintain a current, in-depth knowledge of the given application and all aspects related to business functional units supported. Keep up with industry trends in supported business units and related disciplines through self-study and formal training.
• Support the configuration of the given application. 
• Execute special projects/other duties as required.


Financial authority and responsibility:
• Manage project budgets.
• Responsible for planning and tracking actual costs of on-going services, license fees, etc. for various applications and support contracts.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.
 
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Business Management or related area, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in the functional area (i.e. Logistics, FI-CO, Plant Maintenance, Plant Steering Systems). One of the 3 years should contain experience supporting business processes in the functional area either within the business or information technology functions. 
     
Necessary Skills, Certifications, etc.:
• Solid Working knowledge of SAP system Material Management components e.g. Order Management
• Experience in Supply Chain processes such as Just in Sequence/Time material supply
• Solid working knowledge of current SAP ERP system or other ERP systems in the specified functional area
• Strong Project Management experience in cross-functional projects
• Well-developed analytical skills
• Team player with ability to resolve issues both business and technical
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to adapt and adjust to changing schedules to meet project requirements and milestones
• Strong familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project, Clarity, etc.
• Experience in personnel management
• Technically competent with various software programs, such as MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Working knowledge of software debugging tools
 
Preferred Skills:  
• Strong familiarity with ITIL Foundations / ITIL
• German language skills
• Strong business and finance background and experience
• IT Business Consulting Certification
• PMP Certification
