Job overview Project Lead for the planning and implementation of a Consolidation Center (CC) in the U.S. to support a stable and cost efficient supply of technical parts from the U.S. to the CKD Production Plants of Mercedes-Benz Cars in Europe and Asia. Duties and responsibilities Project lead of a cross-functional team of experts situated on different locations for the planning and implementation of a new CC in the U.S. (e.g. close to the Tuscaloosa plant)
Manage all supply chain elements through the creation of project schedules, budget planning and workflows
Tracking of project goals (quality, costs, deadlines), proposal, alignment and initiation of corrective measures where indicated
Project lead for the installation and operation of hardening and oiling machines for the preservation of technical parts in the new CC.
Develop proposals and new concepts to improve and enhance intricate logistics processes, methods and procedures and integration of new links into the international supply chain. Contribute to network planning for the selection of a CC location and estimation of costs and potential savings
Participation during the selection and assessment of sites. Preparation of requests for approval and follow up
Initiation of the offer and participation in the assignment of a logistics service provider for the operation of the CC. Lead the design of a contracting strategy and alignment with all departments concerned including IPS (purchasing)
Responsible for Launch Management for the start of operations and handover to the responsible MBUSI person for future operation. Realization of risk minimizing measures (e.g. FMEA)
Ensure supporting activities of other departments, e.g. IT or Quality. Participation in committees and representation of project goals
Active support, co-design and implementation of a supply process for Daimler Medium Volume Production (MVP) plants, who will receive the CKD kits. This encompasses the analysis, process design and assessment of scenarios and – upon approval – the implementation of MVP processes for material flow, information flow and business processes. Redesign of administrative processes and related IT for this purpose. Proper documentation of overall planning methods and processes
Identification of optimization measures in the logistics process. Development, planning and implementation of logistic optimization processes within the new supply chain between the U.S. and the CKD plants.
Self-dependent definition, implementation and tracking of logistics optimization measures within the international supply chain
Creation of planning standards, planning tools and process instructions that are applied to the planning of international supply chains and material flow
Holistic assessment of new logistics service providers, supplier development and improvement Perform other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
