Job overview Under general supervision, responsible for the coordination, monitoring, tracking, project management, and reporting activities related to packaging- and container flow activities for MBUSI and Parts Consolidation Centers. Ensure that major company investment stays within the control of MBUSI and its Tier1 suppliers.  Duties and responsibilities Monitor, control, and manage packaging movements and container inventory levels along the complete supply chain for all NAFTA suppliers including inbound shipping of full containers starting at the Tier1 part supplier, border warehouses, cross-dock locations, warehousing, point of consumption, RCM (Returnable Container Management), outbound shipments of empty containers, and receipt of empty containers at Tier 1 parts supplier.
Create and maintain a stable and robust supply chain that ensures the correct quantities of containers at the right time and place.
Track all container balances in the container management system and create summary reports per supplier and container.
Identify discrepancies between plan and actual. Communicate and coordinate the issue resolution of discrepancies with all stakeholders involved.
Identify systemic issues leading to shortages of containers at the time of part shipment. Manage and lead cross-functional teams to resolve systemic issues such as bottlenecks, unbalanced supply chains, or low fleet sizes.
Identify, lead, and support cost reduction opportunities by qualifying alternate supply chain approaches, process improvements, and fleet requirement optimization.
Determine roles and responsibilities with all interfacing groups and departments. Consult with similar groups at other Mercedes-Benz Cars plants for best practices and benchmarks.
Identify, control, and coordinate other influencing parameters and changes thereof such as route frequency, float codes, inventory levels, packaging quantity, use of alternative packaging, etc.
Perform the same tasks for MBUSI Series Production, the CKD Operation in the CC-USA and other related business units where necessary. (CKD: Completely knocked down, CC-USA: Parts Consolidation Center for worldwide CKD plants).
Monitor fleet sizes, track actual requirements, and make recommendations for adjustments when necessary.
Suggest, review, and implement improvements in terms of lean logistics, safety, cost reduction and efficiency.
Travel to suppliers, contractors, etc. as needed to support projects.
Develop list of Lessons Learned items throughout series planning and projects. Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience and Necessary Skills all must be met in order to qualify for position.
QUALIFICATIONS

(Note: Engineering and/or IT MUST require technical degrees) This position requires a Bachelor's degree in (Choose all the apply): Business Administration Supply Chain/Operations Management   Or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional Experience  A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience in the following area(s): Logistics, Operations, or Finance preferably with an automotive OEM or supplier. Successful project management experience in implementing new systems or methods. Required skills
(These skills are essential to perform the job) Proven experience in project planning, monitoring and implementation in Logistics, Finance or closely related field.  Computer competency (MS Office-Excel, Word, Access, and MS Project). 
Certification in logistics or closely related field.
Auditing proficiency, experience in setup of management systems within the framework of ISO 9000, AITF16949.
Preferred skills
(These skills are not essential but useful) Experience with project management software.
German and Spanish language skills.
