Job Description

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

As a Lab technician you will support our development chemists to prepare, formulate, evaluate, and develop new and/or modified products and processes. In this role you would work with chemicals in new formulations development work and would be accountable for maintaining up-to-date laboratory records including formulations, tests, data, conditions and procedures.

If it is necessary you training and safe work procedures will be provided by the technical personnel

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Assists with R&D laboratory testing requirements of new and improved products developed by chemists.

  • Accountable for maintaining up-to-date laboratory records including formulations, tests, data, conditions and procedures.

  • Performs testing for R&D development  support and pilot trials. Activities Includes wash testing, crock testing, application testing, print testing, etc.

  • Receives direction from a staff member, project leader, chemist, or technical manager.

  • Performs testing on trial runs of experimental and modified products, qualification trials of new product/process scale-up experiments, in a timely manner

  • Maintains accurate records of tests performed and the results of such tests.

  • Plans work efficiently so that results are obtained in a timely fashion. Ability to work in multi task lab work on projects that are substantially different

  • Accountable for preparing samples, performing tests and reporting results in a timely fashion.

  • Accountable for performing lab trials, tests and analyses with attention to detail and technique in order to produce good statistical reproducibility.

  • Accountable for writing reports summarizing results, data, and conditions of tests and procedures used. Highly preferred is knowledge of Google or Microsoft with ability to document and record test methods and results.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Scientific Discipline with 5+ years experience, or equivalent, in areas related to Lab/R&D/Quality Control testing of coated materials, inks, films and textile materials. 

  • Experience in a technical laboratory environment, preferably dealing with formulated chemical products is preferred.

  • Capable of performing routine repetitive tasks with little supervision once trained. 

  • Excellent computer skills (i.e. Google Apps) required.

  • Solid scientific and engineering knowledge and experience in specialty.

  • Skilled in executing experiments and trials; demonstrated scientific acumen and strategic thinking in obtaining results.

  • Skilled in developing documentation of experimental results and interpretations.

  • Skilled in making moderately complex mathematical computations.

  • Proven experience in completing moderately complex technical assignments without immediate supervision; analyzing moderately complex data and preparing effective reports and recommendations.

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.  

  • Good verbal and written skills.

  • Skilled in interfacing effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.
