Lab Technician (day / evening shift patterns)

£23,000 - £28,000 depending on experience, plus bonus and other benefits including healthcare and pension.

 

Exciting opportunity to join the site R&D team in Castle Cary as a Lab Technician supporting the James Wellbeloved brand. The main purpose of this role is to support the Laboratory and Sanitation Team Leader to continually improve Quality and Food Safety to ensure consumer expectation of finished product is not compromised through Raw Material Reception processes.
 

This role works closely with other internal and external stakeholders, where developing good relations are essential for the smooth running of the process and collate and supply KPI information for internal and external stakeholders 

 

What are we looking for? 

• Previous knowledge of Laboratory co-ordination and standards within a busy factory environment is preferred, but not essential, if you have relevant transferable skills.
• A degree-level qualification is preferred but by no means essential. 
• Candidate must be IT literate with attention to detail and be physically able to carry out the role.
• The role requires flexibility, working on morning and daytime shifts up until the evenings (not nights). 

 

What would be your key responsibilities? 

• Confirm that the supply of raw materials achieves the specifications required for the James Well Beloved brand
• Ensures organisational and external compliance
• Sample preparation & extractions
• Conduct Chemical Analysis and NIR Analysis of Raw Materials
• Responsible for Quality Control Decisions and Reporting (e.g. Non-Conformance, Concessions, Rejections)
• Collection and sending of samples for Sampling Plan, Microbiology, DEFRA and Ring Test
• Supporting Continuous Improvement in the laboratory.
