Hotel Manager

What you will be doing:
As Hotel Manager, you support the General Manager in the overall management and strategic direction of the hotel, assuming the responsibilities of the General Manager in his absence.
You oversee the operations functions of the hotel, including but not limited to Food and Beverage and Rooms Division.
- you will bring your expertise to support the day to day operational needs of the departments and assist in focusing on results, and optimizing performances
Guest Centric
- Ensures that guest journey is the focus in each operational outlet through the application of the Fairmont standards
- Leads by example in developing high quality relationships with the guests, ensuring that all tasks relating to guest service, comfort or satisfaction are treated with utmost priority.
- Ensures guest satisfaction at all times by ensuring the delivery of high quality personalized and tailor-made services.
- Manages and motivates the HODs and talents to provide high quality services for guests.
- Has expert knowledge of the facilities, services and events offered by the hotel and the surrounding area and actively promotes them as well as all amenities and programs offered by the company.
- Analyses feedback and trends in guest satisfaction taking appropriate action.
Operations
- Guarantees through effective supervision that all services offered are always available, and are carried out with the utmost efficiency.
- Ensures through continuous evaluation that the team are fully aware of the Operating Standards, Mystery Audit criteria, making sure that spot checks and audits are in place and ensuring targets are met.
- Verifies that on a daily basis all standards and procedures are adhered to.
- Monitors the set up and cleanliness of each outlet accordingly to the standards and/or special requests and issues are rectified.
- Liaises closely with all Heads of Department with regards to servicing and handling of high profile guests.
- Effectively handles and resolves any guest problems or complaints and keep Senior Hotel Management informed.
- Monitors rotas to ensure effective coverage of the outlets with payroll in line with budget.
- Supports the HODs in the management of the talents in the department, ensuring that the correct standards and methods of service are maintained.
- Maintains good working relationships with key player including other EXCOM, third parties including Accor Hotel Services and ownership.
- Develops and update strategies and key objectives designed to enhance the F&B outlet’s performance and standards. Involves the HOD’s in strategy development.
- Meets regularly with outlet managers to review the operation of the department to ensure smooth coordination and communication.
- Ensures the department meets its quantitative and qualitative targets.
- Act in the absence of the General Manager in all matters concerning the safety, security and well-being of guests and talents.
Talent & Culture Responsibilities
- Establish on-going On Job Training Programs within the department to meet Brand and Service Standards. Use Department Procedure Manuals as a base for all service procedures training.
- Contribute to the internal communication strategy
- Ensure all new talents are trained to brand immersion and service culture to consistently deliver the level of service expected and interact genuinely with the guest to turn moment into memories.
- Manages and executes all recruitment, training, and development of the talents across the F&B Function meeting mandatory training requirements and individual development plans.
- Conducts training for talents, ensuring that they have the necessary skills to perform their duties with the maximum efficiency and productivity.
- Ensures that all talents are treated fairly and consistently as outlined in their terms and conditions of employment, local legislation and company policies and procedures.
- Holds and ensure that monthly one-to-one’s meeting, probation reviews and appraisals are conducted in a timely manner.
- Monitor the on-boarding of new talents to ensure they are positively welcomed and supported into the team.
General/ Administration
- Be familiar with the hotels employee handbook and understand and enforce the implementation of the hotels policies and procedures those relating to fire, hygiene, Health and Safety, local labor regulations.
- Ensure that you and all heartist have a complete understanding of, and adherence to, the company rules and regulations and in particular the policies and procedures relating to Fire, Hygiene, Health and Safety.
- Respond to any changes in the department as dedicated by the needs of the industry, company, or hotel.
- Be flexible and extend job duties to carry out any other duties and responsibilities including redeployment to alternative departments/areas if required.
- Maintains all hotel records and forms required for audit purposes and as prescribed by local management and policies using technologic tools available.
- Ensure that all departmental reports and correspondence are completed punctually and accurately.
- Ensure that the guest profiles are always maintained and kept up to date respecting Data protection laws.
- Be flexible with your schedule in accordance with the business need.
- Undertakes Duty Management shifts as required, being fully aware of the Duty Manager Job description.
Budgeting and Cost Control
- Ensure that all Accor audit controls are implemented and followed.
- Understand weekly financial revenue targets, payroll costs to ensure optimum performance of each outlet.
- Monitor all costs and recommend measures to control them in accordance with the annual budgets.
- Ensure that food and beverage costs comply with requirements defined by the hotel and the brand,
Other
- Champion for social responsibility (#Planet 21), certifications and related programs in the operation.
- Achieve your quantitative and qualitative objectives
Your experience and skills include:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Strong problem solving abilities
- Highly responsible, reliable
- Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
- Ability to focus attention on both guest needs, while balancing colleague needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Gracious and charming, delivering emotional experience with each individual guests
- Empathetic leader, you are keen to build emotional connection with your colleagues, help them develop their strength and provide regular and constructive feedback.
- You understand the meaning and importance of discretion.
- You have 5 years minimum of experience in a Leader role.
- Room background, previous DOO/HM role needed
- Experience in large operations (resort or city hotel is needed)
- You are able to illustrate previous successes in a comparable luxury environment.
- You must have a graduate degree in business or equivalent
- You ensure a good communication and maintain excellent relationship and partnership with all the different hotel stakeholders
- Business acumen
- Previous experience in Spain and Cataluña is a plus.
- Fluent in Both Spanish and English.
- French is a plus
