Position:          Engineering Supervisor

Department:    Engineering Services

Purpose:    To ensure that the hotel guest rooms and building is properly maintained in proper working   conditions. Assists Chief Engineer leading the team and managing processes to meet Novotel standards. Performs general repair and maintenance such as painting, plumbing and electrical systems.  Checks electrical systems such as A/C controls, television sets, lighting systems, and makes minor repairs and replacements.

Reports to:       Chief Engineer

Job Tasks:

• Responds to all guest complaints in guest rooms, meeting rooms, ballrooms and exhibit areas.
• Preventive maintenance performed in guest rooms, filters, oiling fan coils, motors, etc.
• Assists engineers on maintenance in Central plant and special project work as assigned.
• Responds to back-of-house complaints from locker rooms, Heart to Heart cafeteria, executive offices, etc.
• Responds to all emergency situations such as fires, floods, and cleaning of areas after emergencies.
• Responds to work orders or room inspection reports submitted by entire hotel.
• Assists engineering on major stoppages in entire building.
• Repair broken items such as lamps, luggage racks, ball service carts, housekeeping and laundry and food and beverage carts, furniture, pictures, portable bars, etc.
• Assembles desks, shelving, cabinets, etc., for back of the house personnel.
• Assists guests with special requests such as opening luggage when keys are lost.
• Assists supervisors and engineers on major shut downs for repairs.
• Responsible for Preventative Maintenance program and all related documents.
• Television minor adjustments, change outs and air conditions minor adjustments.
• Inventories all need supplies, prices out items and places orders as needed upon approval and issuance of purchase order number.
• Has good communication with management on everyday projects through daily board check lists, verbal communication.
• Assigns daily work and projects to general maintenance personnel on all shifts, including assigns enough work to be completed throughout the weekend.
• Management of General Maintenance and Room P.M. Staff and all training, counseling and follow up.
• Assists the Chief Engineer in finding proper coverage for all shifts when needed.
• Assigns rooms for VIP inspections on a daily basis and rooms for rooms P.M., and record those rooms on P.M. Board.
• Coordinates all projects with the Chief Engineer.
• To perform other work related duties as assigned by Management.
