General Summary of the Position: The Finance Business Partner’s primary focus will be on providing business support to one or more global functional business units in the company. This is a senior level functional (not people management) manager position requiring strong global experience and matrix management skills. The position requires strong communication skills, multi-client relations and significant business experience. The Senior Finance Business Partner will play a key role in supporting the growth of the units and monitor the business to ensure that P&L goals are achieved. The Senior Finance Business Partner will partner with “Executive Level” management to continuously improve business decisions and results as well as improve the quality of data on which decisions are made. This is not a role of regional support, but rather, has responsibility for managing the global budget for multiple functional business units (Marketing, Products, GSS, etc.) and must influence and matrix manage the functions/ segments globally. The role will support the various Business Unit leaders, while working closely with the VP of Finance and CFO to ensure consistency and adherence of Siemens corporate Financial policies, including revenue and expense recognition; P&L reporting formats; allocation methodologies; financial software and reporting timetables. Essential Functions: • Performs highly complex financial analyses on budgets, cash flows, operating results, and business plans to determine rates of return, capital/cash flow requirements, financial position, options for improvement on expenses, etc. • Establishes a strong a business partnership with the Business Unit SVP/EVP and department heads, enabling value-added contributions. • Develops and executes tools and analytics to drive effective business decisions, using information and data from other groups including Corporate Sales, HR, Legal as well as Finance • Prepares reports on the company’s budgets, revenues and expenses. • Works with department managers and Senior Finance Leaders through the development process of each budget. • Works with senior level company executives and CFO on strategic planning initiatives and special projects • Reviews revenue streams and new revenue opportunities. Review costs versus plans and trends to understand key business drivers and develop plans for improvement. Develop and track key performance indicators. • Provides vision, design, and implementation support for policies and procedures surrounding the health of the business unit and driving business results.(Multiple business units/segments) • Performs analytical reviews of monthly financial statements. Make recommendations to senior management as to areas of improvement on the cost allocations and cost containing opportunities. Work across company lines to track and review project costs and evaluate the cost benefits. • Ensures consistent, timely and accurate reporting to all recipients of financial and business Information. • Leads all efforts toward the development and execution of effective and accurate business plans, budgets and forecasts, financial reporting and related analysis, while working in conjunction with corporate consolidation needs. • Exhibits excellent judgment. The Senior Finance Business Partner will at times be met with competing and sometimes contradictory demands and will need the experience to sort through those demands, identify priorities, establish an action plan and make it happen. • Develops and delivers effective and timely Business analysis both ad hoc and at the direction or request of others on the CFO or Senior Management Team to further an environment of fact-based, profit-oriented business decisions. • Forecasts accurate and timely cash flow projections, sales projections, and expense projections. • Prepares forecasts and analyses on competitor, industry and general economic trends. May be required to work on special projects or to provide less experienced analysts with work direction and technical assistance. Operates without supervision. Skills and Abilities Required: • Demonstrated excellent business/financial acumen • Prior experience in analyzing financial statements and reviewing/developing business plans • Foresight to see both big picture and daily needs and to adjust to shifting priorities and goals • Able to win respect of the executive team and CFO/ CEO while holding them accountable to company processes and policies • Consistent experience as a key contributor in developing solid business practices • Ability to assimilate and process new information • Ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic environment with evolving structures • Understanding of how best to work with all levels and functions within the Business Units/ Segments being supported • Flexibility to foresee and grow with the company needs • A leader that can evaluate a situation and prescribe corrective action to improve it • Strong communication skills in small and large forums • Ability to manipulate and analyze data from various sources • Strong and proven analytical skills • Strong sense of ownership and responsibility - Self-motivated/self-managed • Use of sound judgment • Executive presentation skills required in order to influence decisions at the CEO/CFO/ Senior Leadership team level Education and Experience Requirement: • Bachelor’s degree in business or finance (or equivalent experience); • Minimum 10 + years experience in finance or accounting. • MBA or CPA strongly preferred.
