Eaton's Electrical Sector, Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) division is currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team. This role is located in our Raleigh, NC location Eaton's Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure Division in Raleigh, NC is looking for a Lead Electrical and Systems Engineer to support our New Product Introduction development team. This role is responsible for the development of 3-phase power conversion and distribution products from initial proposal through production launch for the power conversion market. This role is responsible for leading large scale global platform engineering activities across the functions of electrical, mechanical, and embedded software engineering to develop Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Energy Storage products, and associated Accessories. In this function you will: Technical lead for global platform new product development projects, accountable for meeting schedule, cost and product performance goals; • Creates work breakdown schedules, test plans, and sets milestone priorities for cross functional development team; • Mentors junior engineers; • Supports Engineering Management and Program Management in making tactical engineering decisions, setting program schedule, cost targets, and product specifications; • Conceptualizes and evaluates high level system architectural considerations involving electrical, software, and mechanical cross-disciplinary principles to meet product development requirements factoring in performance, cost, and schedule; • Champions innovative solutions in semiconductor device, power electronics topology, magnetics, thermal, and digital controls functions; • Demonstrates creativity and innovation leadership; is able to create and productize new and unique ideas; • Demonstrates process management capability and determines necessary processes to accomplish goals; • Creates, maintains, and reviews product development requirement specifications including product management and customer requirements; • Writes and maintains functional specifications of design solutions; • Accurately analyzes, simulates, and reviews power electronics, analog, logical, and digital circuits, including transient analysis and state machine change analysis; • Keeps track of latest power electronics, embedded software and controls strategies and shares knowledge across organization; When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with Minimum 5 years work experience in power electronics product development OR Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a Minimum of 2 years work experience in power electronics product development Preferred Qualifications: 2 years of experience leading design projects 2 years of MatLab experience 2 years of experience in analyzing, troubleshooting, and programming microcontrollers 2 years of experience in power electronic and power converter topologies 2 years of experience developing schematics and reviewing and approving board layouts 2 years of experience troubleshooting new design issues to root cause 2 years of experience in using common tools and methods to work in high power lab environment including: oscilloscope, power analyzers and meters Position Criteria: Ability to lead global new product development cross functional teams Experience developing complex electrical systems with digital controls Ability to evaluate and design higher level system architectural considerations involving electrical, software, and mechanical cross-disciplinary principles. Excellent communications skills. Good understanding of control of power electronics and/or motor drives Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovation leadership, can come up with and productize new and unique ideas Ability to demonstrate problem solving using logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions We provide benefits that are industry competitive and focused on employee well-being.
